Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Coughing for month and other symptoms

Hi Experts,
I have never had anal vaginal sex ever, I had oral sex 3-4 times and kissing only session with some fingering. The oral was unprotected for 5 seconds where each time they sucked the tip of my penis  about 3-4 times I was the insertive partner after girls kissed top of my penis they put on condom. I am worried  I might be getting hiv opportunistic chest infections. If I google symptoms everyone says hiv I also have boils. Could my symptoms be due to stress or hiv. I have been stressed out for a while, and I am scared to test. I also have shortness of breath. I am scared to test do I have hiv? All of these risk were with high risk folks. I also have fever. Online says it's possible and low risk. I was the insertive partner is insertive more risky oral than doing it?

Protected intercourse is not a risk for infection and an intact condom means no risk.  Oral sex is not a risk for infection.  HIV is a very fragile virus.  Its outer surface becomes damaged, immediately when leaving the host; where changes in temperature, pH and moisture levels, alter the HIV outer surface, rendering it unable to infect.  The mouth is another barrier, as it protects us from pathogens that we encounter daily and it contains over a dozen proteins and enzymes that alter the HIV leaving it unable to infect.

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex.

These studies yielded NO infections.

You have not had a risk and you do not need to test over these incidents.  If you are concerned about any symptoms you are experiencing, you should discuss them with your doctor as they have nothing to do with HIV.

thanks, the fact that they kissed my penis for about 20 seconds doesn't concern you? They put the top part in their mouth for 20 seconds before putting on condom. We did body to body massage and fingering but no anal vaginal stuff ever you think I should relax I have a gf now. Please tell me why some sites show low risk including dr hhh on medhelp is insertive not a risk while receptive is? I have had chest pain and shortness of breath with cough would hiv cause it?

Whatever the details of kissing, kissing is not a risk for HIV transmission.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Period.

Thanks Andy, I appreciate what you do in the forum. My concern is not kissing before I asked the girl to put on a condom they had my penis in there mouth for a min or so. With my symptoms and this you think I should concern these were with high risk folks the girls wouldn't test. That makes me more scared

Please re-read what I wrote about oral sex.  Oral sex is NOT a risk for HIV infection.  Nobody has ever been infected from oral sex and you will not be the first.
