Title: Possible exposure
Post by: Zunu on November 16, 2006, 03:01:54 pm
hi i'm a gay male. i had a sexual encounter with a man who claimed that he's dd free and hiv- 12 days ago... we just kissed and he put my penis in his mouth 2-3 times at max, then i stopped him afteri realized that something could go wrong. Now i feel scared that i might be infected with STDs and the ones that really concern me are Herpes and HIV (since there's no cure at all). I have been reading lots and lots information on the net but i just want to clarify what are the chances of me getting infected by HIV?

and i have one non-hiv related question. i do know that i have to wait at least 12 weeks to get an accurate resuly when it comes to HIV, but what about other STDs? Would 12 days negative result mean anything when it comes to other STDs?

Given that no ejaculation took place during that very brief episode, I don't see that testing for HIV is even warranted.

As far as other STDs are concerned, most can take as long as 13 weeks to show up as well, although often it takes much less time.

In general we recommend that anyone who's sexually active should regularly have a full STD panel done. That means at least once a year and every six months is even better.

As far as HIV is concerned I don't think you need to get tested. If you haven't already read the lesson on this site about Transmission, I recommend doing that. You can find a link to it in the Welcome thread at the top of this section.

Cheers,

No chance of HIV from receiving a blowjob as for other STDs it's possible.

Zunu,

Can I ask why you are using different usernames while posting to our forums? Thus far, you have also used Jason (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=5446.0)

Please realize that this kind of activity is disrespectful of other forum members, as well as our moderators. People spend a considerable amount of time helping others in these forums. Using multiple accounts is at the very least annoying, if not deceiving and disrespectful of others. It is also against our Terms of Membership (http://forums.poz.com/Terms.htm) which you agreed to when you became a member. This information is also contained within the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0), which you should have read by now. So really, you have no excuse.

You must realize that the answers won't change, no matter how many names you post under.

I would appreciate a reply to this message, and I hope you will commit to using just one account - preferably your original one. If not, you will be banned from further access to the forums.
