Heavy flu in week 9, tested negative on 4th gen from labcorp.
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:24:01 pm »
Hello,

I am Going to put all the details, I am sorry if it is long or gross.

Day 0: I visited a massage parlor in Fulton county, Atlanta. The lady was scratching my back with her long(probably artificial nails.) she may have used those while applying lubricant in her vagina. She scratched a long scar on my thigh and blood came out for the whole length of the scar.(pretty long scar). She kissed repeatedly on a broken pimple next to my ear. After that, She put condom in her mouth and using her mouth, put it on my penis, condom covered my penis, although at the base of it, I had a healed cut. After that she started biting around my genitals, although no blood came out or injury felt. This followed by vaginal sex.I tried to stimulate her by putting my index finger with superficial cut(non bleeding) on her clitoris. I didn't pull out immediately after the penis started getting limp. After pulling out, the condom was present on more than half of my penis. The massage lady checked condom and it had not torn.
She strongly kissed me on my lips.

Day 15-16: Negative for HIV1 RNA. (Labcorp)
Day 16-17: Negative for Ag/ab for HIV 1 and 2 (quest)
Day 50: CMIA test Negative for hiv 1&2 antibody and P24 antigen test.
Day 61: Heavy flu like symptoms (I had taken flu shots). Took Zithromax and recovered in 4 days. After that my girlfriend got same symptoms and hasn't recovered even after 5 days.
Day 63: I tested for HIV 1 RNA PCR. Results awaited.(weekend and new year leave)
I also tested for hiv1 and 2 antibody and p24 4th generation and result: negative.
Day 65: Oraquick result Negative.
Day 68: Oraquick result Negative.
Day 69: Oraquick result Negative.

I am also scheduled to test for hiv 2 RNA PCR tomorrow.
What are the probability that this is HIV. Please forgive me for this long post. I am losing my head and sense right now. I am ashamed and will never do this.

Presuming you had protected vaginal sex (or attempted vaginal sex), which, from your recollection of events, appears to be that case (the condom covering the head of your penis), you are not at risk for HIV infection.

The pimple kissing, back and thigh-scar scratching, and "biting" around your penis also did not put you at risk for HIV infection.

Furthermore, your tests also indicate that you are negative for HIV antibodies at 10 weeks past exposure.

You should fully expect that further HIV testing will continue to indicate that you did not contract the HIV during this encounter.

Thanks for the information. I just received my hiv 1 RNA PCR report (after 65 days) and it is Negative. Is it safe for me to assume that I do not have HIV 1. I also got the result for hiv 1 and hiv 2 antibody with p24 for hiv 1 as Negative. Do I still need to test at week 12 to make sure for hiv 1?

Additionally, do you think that the hiv2 has delayed seroconversion and should I test for it specifically. Thanks for your guidance.

Hi

Firstly you had no risk from this incident, HIV is not transmitted in the way you fear. Move on with your life, use condoms and test yearly for STI's and HIV.

Next to having no risk to start with and thus no reason to run out and test if you ever do have a risk, such as unprotected intercourse simply test with an antibody test at 6 weeks and 13 weeks post exposure. 13 weeks is conclusive.

RNA PCR testing is not recommended for routine testing due to the high level of false results (between 2 and 9% :o) and cost.

Anyhow the incident was as you described was not a HIV risk, your suffering from guilt nothing more and there is no test for that.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

I think it is "safe" for you to assume that you do not have HIV 1 from the incident of which you write because you were not put at risk to contract the HIV from that incident:  you had no risk in the first place.

Whether you decide to test further or test for HIV 2 is your decision, based on your need for "peace of mind" and closure.  I do not think it is necessary, but it is your call.

I am sorry to be sounding so paranoid, the reason I am on overdrive of testing is because I had taken flu shots a couple of months back, yet I got severe flu symptoms( severe headache, body ache, pain in muscles, fever, feeling light headed, blocked nose etc.) And as soon as it ended for me, it started for my girlfriend.Although, I did not have penetrative sex with her, we may have exchanged precum. So, I am testing for all possibilities. Please give me your thoughts....Thanks for your help.

HIV does not give you a blocked nose, if your symptoms were caused by HIV (you had no risk in this incident to start with) than you would have tested positive already for the antibodies.

Flu shots do not guarantee you will not get flu, anyhow if your sick speak to your doctor to treat whatever is wrong with you.
