My risk?
« on: April 08, 2016, 09:57:30 am »
So, here is my story.

A while ago, I met a guy that I really liked and 3 weeks ago we met up and decided to have 'sex'. While we mostly did handjobs, we did swap a little oral. We also did have anal sex, kind of. He was younger and very tight so he could not move that much and we could not do it a lot. However, at one point, when I pulled out, I noticed that condom had moved up, just so much that it was covering the head of my penis. I have a feeling that it rode up when he was dismounting but I dunno if that increases the risk or not, so I thought i would ask.

Basically exactly 2 weeks after, I had about 6 hours where I threw up whatever I ate and tried to drink after and then the day after that I had some diarrhea. Initially, I chocked this up to the sushi I had ate for dinner because I can no longer stomach the smell of fish. After the first day, I have only experienced a very gurgly stomach and acid reflux/a lump in my throat. It's been a week

What do you guys think?

As long as the head of the insertive partner's penis was covered then it was protected intercourse.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected anal and vaginal intercourse.

There is nothing HIV specific about your symptoms.  If they continue you should discuss them with your doctor. I don't see any need for HIV testing i  relation to this incident unless you want the inevitable negative result just for your peace of mind.

I forgot to mention that I had a 1 canker sore a little underneath my lip while this was happening. I do get them randomly from time to time, but does this change anything?

Hi,
This changes nothing in Andys assessment .
Your mouth has dozens of proteins and enzymes that damage the virus and leave it unable to infect.

Hello.

I recently had sex with someone who is on PrEP. He was the receptive partner and I was the penetrative partner. After some oral sex and some foreplay, we had anal sex with a condom.

After we finished sex, as I am a very anxious person, I checked the condoms for holes, even going so far as putting my fingers in it and feeling for holes. There were none.

However, today I noticed that I may have some white discharge coming out of my penis. I am concerned that maybe I caught Chlamydia or something from him and if I did, could I have caught HIV from him too?? What was my risk??

Hi, Getting a blow job and protected intercourse are not risk for HIV, however other STIs are much easier to transmit. Go to the doctor and get treatment for what ever you picked up, it was NOT HIV.

Best, Wade

Hiya

Getting your penis sucked is not a HIV concern, as in none whatsoever, now as for giving a blowjob thankfully the mouth generally without damage lacks route (cells to infect) and even if there was damage the virus is very fragile, and saliva has dozens of protein and enzymes that damage HIV receptors used to infect thus rendering it unable to infect.

All in all its such a near negligible HIV concern we don't recommend testing over it, just get tested as you normally should during a regular STI checkup. So relax, collect your results and stop overthinking things.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider starting PrEP as an additional layer of HIV protection going forward

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as safe in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for acquiring far easier to transmit STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim
