Title: Yep, I'm "LIVING". (with HIV)

Hi Everyone.

I haven't been here for a long time which is both a good thing and a bad thing. I spent my first days reading here all day, every day. But after 4 years (in January) since my diagnosis, I have come to be totally OK with with my status.

What am I trying to say? I dunno. I am still me. I am well. I am not on meds. My numbers are great. I go to my specialist regularly. Those people who told me that I could be living a better life than ever before were right. I think of my happiness and health more than I did. I worry about judgement less.

I'm still top of my game professionally; something I worried about a lot at first. But, I got there, and I'm getting better all the time. I've helped others cope with diagnosis and living with HIV. It's still quite rare and unspoken in Australia, but I have gotten over the STIGMA. If only I could have realised that it was my own ignorance and fear of STIGMA that wrecked me upon diagnosis, I could have saved a LOT of angst.

Anyways, just wanted to check in. I'm still single, but that's because I haven't met the right guy, not because of my HIV status. Yeah, I think about it; sometimes. But I'm doing OK ATM.

Hey Auspoz, good to hear from you again and it's great to find out how well you're doing. I'm sure your story will be an inspiration to those amongst us who are still wrestling with their diagnosis.

Time is a fantastic healer. It really does get better, as your story shows.

What a positive message!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm sure it'll help others here realize how great life can become in spite of this virus.

Yes Aus i agree it is very encouraging especially for us relative newcomers.

Like you i used to read the forums daily. I still look in but less frequently now. I guess thats a good sign.
