Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

I Could Have Been Exposed to HIV

I had a possible exposure to HIV 3 weeks ago. The man I was with said he was tested a year ago and he was clean then. We had sex without protection once Saturday and it was my first time, I bled a little. Was I more at risk for HIV since I bled? Sunday, we had sex 3 times without protection (he used the pull out method.) I don’t think any of his sperm got in me, but once he came near my vagina, so it could have. Also, I gave him a blow job once. I have a weak immune system and I don’t know if that makes me more likely to get HIV; I have aplastic anemia. I am two weeks late getting my period. I have also had fatigue, chills, and headache. I took two pregnancy tests and they were negative. I am so scared. I would be relieved if it is anything but HIV. Also, I got an STD test one week after exposure and it was negative, but it was too soon to tell if it’s HIV.

Hi,
 
Unprotected intercourse is how the virus is sexually transmitted and you have put yourself at risk.  The pull out method may help with pregnancy but is of no help with reducing risk for HIV or other sexually transmitted STIs.

Guidelines are to test at 6 weeks past exposure and again at 13 to confirm your results. Use condoms going forward and have safer sex.
