Possible infection?
« on: November 04, 2014, 08:17:04 am »
hello everyone
thank you for all the help you provide and for the time you spend answering the same questions over and over again for the sake of a peaceful mind

Im a 29 year old bisexual male, who has met 4-5 older guys which with whom I have practiced oral sex (giver/receiver/unprotected) and anal sex (bottom/Protected). The last insidence has made me worry a lot, and that is why i am writing this post. And also because I have read a lot of contradicting stories/statements on the internet. So i want to know for sure how exposed I am.

so here it goes.

For about 2 weeks ago i met with someone which i have met with before over approximately 2 years (but dont know him personally)
We kissed very deep, he performed oral on me and I on him ( both unprotected), and he also rimmed me for about a minute (I have few scares in my/around my anus due to some anal itiching). He didnt ejaculate inside my mouth but I for sure tasted pre-cum. Afterwards he put on a condom and tried to penetrate me. When he did, it hurted a lot and i forced him to pull out after about 20 seconds (the condom didnt brake, as i recall). He then performed oral on me and fingered me till I came in his mouth. The next day i find out that he is HIV + (through other people who have met him)

4 days after the insidence, i went and got a quick/rapid test, which showed negative. I am aware that there is a window period, but since I have been meeting him few times before, I thought that the risk of getting infected the last time would be very small if i wasnt infected the other times.

What should I do?

I dont have visible blood in my mouth, but i do have few small bumps on the back of my throat which could be inflamed. Does this posses a possible risk?

thank you very much

Nothing you did was a risk for HIV . HIV is sexually transmitted from unprotected anal and vaginal sex and you used a condom for that ... so no risk .

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex. These studies yielded NO infections.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

A lot has changed in the last 14 years since the ink you provided ... I removed it because its out of date . The bottom line is if you are uneasy than go test . The window period if you had a risk ( you did not ) is 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 12 weeks to confirm it . It will be negative if this is you're only concern .

No incident HIV infections among MSM who practice exclusively oral sex.

Thank you again, i really apreciate the comments you take time to write and the links you provide

I just have one more thought/question.

After some reading I came by this article:
http://www.prn.org/images/pdfs/667_hecht_frederick_v5n4.pdf

On page 12 they state that there is a risk involved in oral sex.

What are your thoughts about that?
Honestly, i got very worried and have become anxious/afraid

I have already addressed your concerns .  The bottom line is if you are uneasy than go test . The window period if you had a risk ( you did not ) is 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 12 weeks to confirm it . It will be negative if this is you're only concern .

The link you provided is from 2000.  We have discovered a lot about transmission risks in the last 14 years that are not reflected in the article.

Thank you for your answers

I took a test 2 days after the encounter (to exclude previous exposures with the infected person) and testet negative for everything.
This is probably my mind playing tricks on me ever since I found out that he is poz. But hasnt there been any persons who has come out in the open and told that they were infected ONLY through oral transmission? I know you repeatively have written that there is no risk connected through oral sex (unless I have meth mouth), but since these papers/reports states that there is a risk, shouldnt there be some visible persons which we can point out and say; HE/SHE got infected this way?

Thank you Again

I have subscribed for 7 days, not only to continue these (maybe unnecessary) questions, but also to support this wonderful forum

Thank you for your contribution .
We have provided the information you came here for . We do not debate or swap links in this forum and we are not here to have lengthy discussion . If you had large open wounds in your mouth their could have been a theoretical risk but that was not the case in your specific situation ... so no risk .

The bottom line is if you are uneasy than go test . The window period if you had a risk ( you did not ) is 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 12 weeks to confirm it . It will be negative if this is you’re only concern .

We are not going to go endless rounds discussing a no risk blow job with you subscription or not .
