needle?

I performed unprotected oral sex, (I was the receptive partner) on a partner of unknown status. He said he was HIV- but that doesn't mean much now does it. Well, as a result of too much alcohol I decided to give this guy a BJ. At the time I had a canker sore that was basically on it's way to healing up. I don't think it was exactly an open wound. There was an ejaculation though.
if the person performing oral sex has a "minor" canker sore in his/her mouth (on the inner membranes of the mouth and cheek) and s/he comes into direct contact with his/her partner's semen, vaginal fluids, or blood, may s/he well be increasing his/her risks of contracting HIV from his/her partner if s/he is infected?

K, you are worrying needlessly. The risk for HIV through giving oral is essentially only theoretical. Your own saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as condoms are used consistently for those activities you will be well protected.

In general it's good to avoid having casual sex when drinking excessively because it leaves you in an impaired state of mind to make good decisions about safer sex.

Happily this time you have no cause for further concern nor any need for testing.

Good. Glad the exchanges helped you. Good luck with that curious and challenging process called "dating."

i just got tested yesterday and since the injection my arm is kinda slightly swollen
i didnt really look at the nurse while she was injecting the needle cuzz it scares me a lot but after it was done i asked whether she used a brand new needle or not and she said she did, but the pain in the arm is still persistent im having thoughts that she might have forgotten to change the syringe ????
im awfully  sorry if i sound ignorant, i dont know the whole procedure is conducted but i guess once the blood is absorbed from the veins and they remove the needle they right away insert it into some flask or some type of container, right?
she actually showed me that she used a "different needle", but is it possible to apply that "different needle" on the once-used "tube" ?
hope my thread didnt sound too annoying, guess im going thru the phase of hyper- hypochondria.

You must keep all your questions, thoughts and comments in your original thread. This helps us follow your story and give you the best advice we can.

If you cannot find your original thread, please click the "Show own posts" link in the left hand column of any forums page.

I would also draw your attention to the posting guidelines for Am I Infected? which are outlined in our Welcome Thread.

Please note that your questions will not be answered until you return to your original thread.

kk,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep everything in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Testing centers do not re-use needles. They also do not re-use the tube - your blood is collected directly into the tube which goes to the lab for testing. They're not going to mix your blood with someone else's.

It's not uncommon for a person's arm to be sore after having blood taken. If I had a dime for every time I ended up with a sore, bruised and/or swollen arm after a blood draw, I could retire to the Bahamas.

You did not have a risk for hiv infection when you tested.
