Unprotected receptive anal sex

So I did something really stupid today. I had unprotected anal sex with a guy I met online. Akwardly enough he turned out to be an acquaintance of one of my very best friends who says this guy comes from a really good family. Anyway, our exposure lasted a total of approximately 1 minute combined. I was on the receiving end. He did not ejaculate inside of me, and he does not precum a lot. He has reassured me he is negative and has stated that he rarely hooks up with dudes. He did say however that his last HIV test was 6 months ago, and I didn't ask him if he's had any incidences of unprotected sex since then. We did use a condom at first, but eventually he took the condom off and I let him penetrate me. As stated before, he was only inside of me thrusting away for about 1 minute combined. This was the first time in my life that I have let this happen. I've played it very safe every other time and now feel like I let myself down. He is 25 years old and I am a few years younger than him, if that matters. I know I exposed myself to getting hiv. My question is, what are the chances of him lying to me? What was my risk factor? Should I attempt to get PEP? I'm seriously freaking out right now.

You have indeed had a risk and you do need to test.

I do not think it would be totally remiss if you started PEP either. The first twenty four hours are optimal for PEP to be effective, but it still shows good success upwards of 72 hours past your incident. After that, most hospitals and doctors would not prescribe it.

If you choose to go to your local ER or doctor to get the prescription, you must take the pills you receive as directed.  It's a month-long thing, and they should do a baseline HIV test along with other bloodwork in case you have an adverse reaction.

Of course, PEP extends the testing window by a month, so you will need to test out at four months past this incident for a definitive result. Although a six week test AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE OF PEP is considered almost certainly definitive.

I am sorry that this happened, but urge you to insist upon a condom until such time as you are in a mutually monogamous relationship with someone and have tested together.

If your friend did not like the condoms you/he was/were using, perhaps he should try a different size, or use a polyurethane condom.  Regardless, there really isn't much of a point to freaking out. Take care of this to the best of your ability first.
