Feeling Feverish
« on: February 24, 2018, 07:51:48 pm »
July 31, 2017:
My last sexual exposure. I have engaged in unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex multiple times before this.

Nov 20, 2017:
I saw one bump on my lower abdominal, I ignored it and continued shaving as usual. The bump got cut and i saw multiple bumps in
a few days. Then i saw some of the bumps on the base of my penis as well. This got me worried and i got a complete STD check done including HIV

Dec 24, 2017 (5 months after exposure):
Test1-
4th Generation HIV Test - Non Reactive
Herpes 1 - Positive
Herpes 2, Hepatitis A, B, C, Gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia, syphilis - Negative

Jan 03, 2018:
I got an online consultation for Herpes 1

Jan 04, 2018 to Jan 14, 2018:
Started taking acyclovir for 10 days

Jan, 2018:
I started feeling feverish around beginning of Jan, 2018. My normal body temp would be at 97.5 but when i would feel feverish the temperature would rise
till 98.8 (I know it is still considered a normal temperature but it makes me feel uncomfortable just like one would in fever). This happens to me 2-3
times daily and lasts anywhere from 30 mins to few hours.

Jan 15, 2018:
Even after taking meds for 10 days those bumps did not go away so i was precribed another medicine Valacyclovir which i started from 15th jan 2018 to
23 jan 2018 but the bumps still did not go away.

Jan 24, 2018:
Then I went to a doctor for physical examination and he said it looks like molluscum contagion since it has a dimple at the center.
He suggested me to leave it as it is and that it will go away on its own in 6 months.
From what I have observed, the bumps becomes red after a few days and then goes away on its own. I am not concerned about these bumps anymore as very
few of them remain.

Jan 25, 2018 (6 months after exposure): Since I continued to feel feverish and so I decided to go for another round of testing.
Test 2-
4th Generation HIV Test - Non Reactive
Herpes 1 - Positive
Herpes 2, Hepatitis A, B, C, Gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia, syphilis - Negative

Feb 5, 2018  (6 months, 1 week after exposure):
I noticed rashes on both my arms, abdomen, both the legs. These were red spots and they came out when i was having this feverish feeling.

Feb 6, 2018  (6 months, 1 week after exposure)
Test 3 -
4th Generation HIV Test - Non Reactive
HIV 1 RNA, QL TMA - Not Detected
Herpes 2, Hepatitis A, B, C, Gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia, syphilis - Negative

I again went to the doctor, he ignored my feverish feeling since thermometer wont register beyond 98.8. he prescribed me prednisone and the rashes
went away in 5 days.
I got CBC done and it shows normal.

My feverish feeling continues 2-3 times every day.

Following are my question:
1) Are my test conclusive, especially HIV test? Would the medicines that I have taken impact my 2nd & 3rd test results?
2) I am less worried about HIV 1 since the testing included checking for the virus itself but for HIV 2 only antibodies were tested so could it
be a case of late seroconversion as HIV 2 is known to be a slow progressor?
3) In my case, feverish feeling started 1 month before rashes, does this indicate anything related to HIV?
4) If i assume my feverish feling was due to seroconversion that started beginning of Jan, my feb testing for HIV 2 antibodies should have turned
positive right?
5) Do ars rashes go away with prednisone in 5 days?
6) Can molluscum contagion cause this feverish feeling?
7) Do u recommend retesting?

Thanks,

Long read, scanned the relevant facts pertaining to potential HIV infection.

I'm not going to answer your questions one by one because they are annoying, ill informed, off the mark.

Your perceived symptoms of potential HIV-infection are irrelevant; symptoms, if they occur at all, vary widely.  If you are ill, see a healthcare provider for appropriate diagnosis and treatment, if applicable.

The central issue is your potential for HIV infection because of your risks of unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex.

You've testing negative for HIV antibodies (and other STD's/STI's), isn't that enough for you?  Consult with your healthcare provider for issues related to why you have further questions.

Move on with your life.

You had protected vaginal sex (not a risk) and some sort of unprotected oral sex, which is a theoretical risk only if you are providing oral sex to a male and you have gaping wounds in your mouth ("meth mouth"), neither of which case appears to apply to you.

Appreciate your reply!
I apologize for the long post. I felt i should mention all the details that could be related.

I have been to the doctors multiple times but since my fever does not cross 98.8 degree temperature and my blood results are negative they are not able to recommend anything and want me to wait some  more time and see if it improves.

I understand I had protected vaginal sex but since I had it multiples times it is possible that the condom was not used properly and so on. That is the reason I feel i could have been exposed to the virus.

Just 1 question since I keep worrying about HIV:
The combined rash thing makes me feels scared about the HIV thing. Based on the tests can I conclude for 100% that I am not infected?

Thanks,

Yes, absolutely, your tests are 100% conclusive. You do not need to test further for HIV on the basis of the events you described.

None of your symptoms are related in any way to HIV.

As Patrick said - If you are ill, continue to consult with your GP to get to the bottom of whatever is causing the problem. As it isn't HIV related, we can't help you any more on that front here.

Wish you well, but please refrain from posting any more about this. You can safely move on with your life.

Hey Guys I understand that symptoms are not discussed in this forum but my case seems to be a bit unusual. I know you guys are not doctors but you come across so many posts of people talking about their symptoms. I know some turn out to be HIV positive while some dont.

I have low grade fever every single day since beginning of Jan 2018. Beginning of Feb i got rashes which went away with allergy medicine in 5 days. I am suffering every single day.

My CBC is normal, CRP is normal, ESR is normal, got tested for Lyme, Thyroid which was negative.

I again got tested for HIV again yesterday - 4th gen negative (5th test, 7 months, 1 week after possible exposure)

Do you guys think my issue could be HIV related since my other blood reports are normal?

You do not have HIV, you had no exposure to HIV, no possible transmission and to be frank no need to test in the first place.

You have been warned by the other mods to stop posting about this already.

Now I wish you well, however move on with your life, its not HIV from the incidents you are concerned about, if you do post about this no-risk scenario and conclusive negative result again it will lead to a ban from the forum.

This is to encourage you to see professional face to face support such as a therapist to help you cope with your fears and thoughts.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim
