I am in desperate need of some help
« on: August 16, 2007, 11:51:27 am »
First, I want to thank everyone that posts here - here is my story - 12 days ago I had oral sex and intercourse with a stripper/call girl - the oral was brief and I used a condom - 8 days ago I had sex with a similar type of girl with only intercourse and I used a condom - 5 days ago the same thing - I was on vacation - 4 days ago I developed a rash on my inner legs which does not itch but is irratating when my legs rub or sweat - what has put me in a state of fear is that last night I noticed a rock hard pea shaped swollen lymph node in my groin - I have never had this before - any help is greatly appreciated - thanks

John, whatever is going on has nothing to do with HIV. You used a condom everytime you had intercourse which is exactly what you are supposed to do. They provide very effective protection whether your partner is a pro or a civilian.

If you received oral there was absolutely no risk for transmission. If you gave oral the risk is mainly theoretical. In the real world of HIV transmission doesn't happen that way.

So whatever is going on with your rash and any other symptoms is something for you to discuss with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation and you have no need to get tested for same. Keeping your legs dry with some medicated powder might help in the meantime as well as soaking in the tub with epsom salts in the water.

Cheers,

Andy, thanks for the response - it's not the rash that is really concerning me - it's the swollen lymph node - it's not in my head - it's definately a hard pea size node in my groin - of course, I am exhausted and have a mild headache but that is most likely nerves - do you think it is early for me to be showing symptoms or is everyone different? thanks again

John, you wouldn't be showing symptoms because no matter what your mind is saying to you otherwise, you weren't at risk for HIV.

As far as the lymph node is concerned, even if it is swollen, and I am not questioning the accuracy of your report of same, a swollen lymph node is absolutely NOT an HIV-specific symptom. It happens for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with HIV.

So as far as I am concerned we're back to my telling you this is NOT an HIV situation. Really.

Andy, you are saving my mind - and I hate to keep wasting your time - but would it be possible to exhibit early signs of HIV infection in like 10 or 11 days? thanks again

john,

Forget about symptoms. Symptoms or even the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection.

What's important here is that you used a condom for intercourse. Condoms prevent hiv infection. You didn't have a risk.

Whatever is going on with the rash and the glands has nothing to do with hiv. Go see a doctor and find out what is actually causing it. It won't be hiv.

I hope you use condoms with all your sexual contacts, sex workers or otherwise. Anyone who does not use condoms puts themselves at risk for hiv and other STIs no matter who they are having intercourse with.

Have a look through the three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence. Use them correctly and consistently and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
