Title: New Years Eve plans?
Post by: mikeyb39 on December 29, 2013, 09:37:14 pm
Would just like to see what everyone's plans are for the New Years Eve.  Any fun scheduled?  Any Resolutions?

I think it will just be a movie night, pretty laid back.

I will be at a 12 step meeting's function.  But plan on leaving way early-don't like to be out on the streets late.

As for resolutions...I make goals, but not something I will "resolutely" do.  That's too much pressure.  Goals can be accomplished a little at a time.  I would like to quit smoking (again), and start exercising (again).  And maybe those knee replacements. :o

in the streets in our hood, better to be safe than sorry  :o

Now that I think about it I should make a DiBruno's run this afternoon to avoid tomorrow's pre-NYE'ers needing fine cheeses to accompany their Veuve-Cliquot. In fact, I should buy a bottle of champers for myself but I know I won't.

Seattle - NYE -

Unfortunately the Dive Bar that I always went to (Sonjas) for holidays when in town has closed, moved and is now a new sleak Sonja's on the water!  Travesty!!  From what I hear, it's almost like a *gasp* martini bar!

I will adjust.

I've been invited downtown, but I REALLY hate being out on the streets on NYE. I may go, but come home early and drink some bubbly by myself and kiss my cat at midnight.

I have a friend in town with her three young daughters (twins age 5 and other daughter age 7), she is leaving tomorrow evening, so I have to take her to the airport... But, we will do Fort Lauderdale early NYE  celebration (http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/events/countdown/index.htm)...

After I drop her off at airport, I will head to a friend's house in Wilton Manors for a pre-midnight party and walk to Wilton Drive to watch the ball drop in Fort Lauderdale's gay mecca of Wilton Manors....

Should be an enjoyable day/evening.

It's going down to 23F here for NYE, yet another reason to hole up at home. But a mere teaser for the 8F overnight low on the 3rd, not to mention this frightening development -- mitchypoo is going to be clobbered:

It will get down to around 71 tomorrow evening (with a slight chance of rain)....and the drop in temps will continue with Miami getting an overnight low of 64 on the 3rd.

I will be curled up in the fetal position sucking my thumb in anticipation of getting possibly 16" of snow on the 3rd.

Thnx Betty. You can still bitch.  :)

We do have a snowblower but I really can't manage it. Now some are using the "B" word. 75 mph winds possible?

I hope I am feeling better tomorrow.  Began getting that tickle in the throat and now have a cough.  Hope it doesn't turn into more than that.  I was last sick for New Years back in the late 90's.  We were actually planning to hit the clubs this year, for the first time in a long time.  I am thinking that will have to wait until next year.

I hope everyone has fun and a great New Year!

I plan to hook up with my bf late in the day to ring out the old year with some good sex. (we haven't had time to try out all of the new Christmas toys yet) then we'll go over to our friend's party for a while. It's always a fun time on NYE with food, games, drinks, and fun people. (I'm sneeking the gag-gift pink bra that I got a couple years ago back into the party. No one will being expecting it to reappear after all this time so I'm expecting to catch a lot of people unaware and have them laughing LOL)

Then we'll head back home, probably right after midnight (you know, champagne toast; happy, happy; kisses and hugs; goodnight and goodbye), and ring in the new year with some more sex. (you can never have "too much" sex. you can have "too little"; but never "too much".  ;D )

On New Years Day to bring good fortune in 2014, I guess I'll be eating blackeye peas, and collards since I'm here in SC; although I'd rather be having the pork roast and sauerkrafut they'll be serving back in OH.

I hope you feel better Teddy; and I hope you don't have to shovel too much snow, Mitch (really, I wish I was there to help. I used to be a snow-shoveling OCD freak when I lived in OH; but it's not worth shoveling snow in SC cause when it finally snows, all we'll get is about 6 inches and it'll all melt away in about 12 hours tops. BooHoo!)

Best wishes for a great 2014 for everyone! <3

Thanks Mikey.  Btw, I don't have to tell you that you have to be careful about those farts following toy insertion.  They can sometimes come a hour or two later.  Didn't want anyone to be embarrassed at the party, after the sex.  ;)

Seriously, have fun!

This morning's models show Filthy only getting 2-4" at most of snow, so again another non-event. However, East Haddam will get slammed and then have an overnight low of NEGATIVE EIGHT DEGREES (LOL++)

GO EAGLES!

Here in Montreal, we are still buried from the two feet of snow we got last Friday.  The temp is a bone chilling -11C (about 0F) with 20km winds for a wonderful wind chill of -19C (-3F).  Tonight is the Pig Party, a Montreal fetish party and folks will be freezing their...  off, assuming they can actually get somewhere, especially by car.

Probably staying in solo tonight. Glenlivet scotch and/or perseco for beverage(s). And some good food. There's a party that sounded kinda inviting but staying in sounds even better. Listening to great old Carol Sloane album now: A Night of Ballads, that makes me think maybe it's already time to have a drink. At some point I will put on a BONES dvd later that I got today from Netflix.

Tomorrow my son Ben will drop his dog off for a couple of days. Luni loves it here and has a lot of fun rearranging all the pillows to her taste in my living room and then curling up in her favorite chair. Thursday have a meeting of PHAG, newish working group in ACT UP focusing on PEP and Prep and prevention in general. Great group.

Wishing you all a swell evening and a great New Year! If y'all were here in town that could get me out or better still have y'all in. You're the best.

xoxo

If the weather was slightly warmer I'd go watch the fireworks at Penn Landing on the Delaware River but once they're over you have to rush to the subway because it stops at 1am. I'd need to be really drunk to do this.

Or I could walk home but that would take 45 minutes for a 2 mile walk. Feasible in nice weather but not 27F and windy.

The annual Mummer's Parade (http://www.visitphilly.com/events/philadelphia/the-mummers-parade/) has begun assembling outside of my apartment and my windows are already rattling from the horribly loud music that they play. This will now go on for the next six hours (at least). At least I'm not hungover and got 8 hours of sleep this year so maybe I won't develop a raging headache from it.

I'm staying in and doing laundry perhaps, and finishing editing 300 photographs.

My channel was tuned to BRAVO all night.  I'm becoming obsessed with Persian men.  Shaws of Sunset has introduced a new gay character who is the most stunning example of male beauty.  His name is Sasha.  (SP?)  I can't find any images yet, but he now beats out Mike as the hottest Persian.

Last night I stead home with my family and went to bed at 8:30. I did wake up to my 15 year old asking me to check the house and doors. She had stayed up and heard the fireworks and gun shots in the neighborhood. The fireworks were close enough that the inside of our house was being lit up.
So I got up and checked the house with my daughter behind me carrying her umbrella for a weapon.
I finally went to bed when the noise settled down around 1am.

It happened last year in Richmond (well, Chesterfield County).  A kid died when a bullet hit him in his head.  They still have not found who fired the bullet.  It was in an upscale, suburban neighborhood.

Here in the MIA every year someone gets stuck by a "stray" bullet being fired into the sky as part of someone's New Year's celebration. Obviously, Newton's law of gravity isn't digested by some people.

I actually was in bed by 10:45 last night - although I knew it was the New Year when I heard all of the fireworks, gun shots, etc. outside...

I was beat after hanging out the night before until almost 3 in the a.m. playing cards and accompanying my friend from Atlanta and her daughters to Fort Lauderdale's early NYE celebration for families.. They even did a ball lighting and countdown at 7 pm for the children.

I then took her to the airport for her flight back to ATL and brought myself home and to bed.

I felt good about doing it as I woke up feeling much better (although not until about 1:30 this afternoon) and was able to accomplish some things that I wouldn't have been able to do had I stayed out late last night partying.

Trying to do somethings different this year...
Oh, and I'm still smoking - but have started reducing the amount... so, I am making progress - albeit slow progress.... but that is for the other thread.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

As I never intend owning anyone I cannot disown them, and you never did get back about a possable hook up when I and Miss Miasofia begin our Spring travels.

I really cannot sea how a Proud Scottish Women could possably object to an English man on route to Summer on a small island with in The Orkney,s.

I will present my card and references nearer the time.

lots off love

Do you ever get to Liverpool? I go there for clinic three/four times a year and I've started saving up in-between appointments so I can stay overnight. I've become fed up with having my appointment after getting up at 4am, and three hours of motion-sickness (from taxis and the airplane), so now I try to travel the day before.

So maybe we could meet up in Liverpool sometime (it's expensive to get to the Rock, but you're always welcome). I'm over again on a Mon/Tues (clinic Tues) in mid-April, but I could conceivably travel over on Saturday or Sunday if I have enough notice to save up for the extra hotel costs. I use a good, clean, no-frills hotel that has very reasonable prices, right in the city centre.

PM me if you want to make plans. (Same goes for you, Michael.)

Well I am planning too I just forgot to inform you Ann , Britchick I can organize accom for you in London , Plus the Liverpool April thing sounds very good Ann. Does the Hotel allow Dogs ? If you are on any Disability monies the National Rail Disabled Adults card costs £20 per year and gets you a third off. So Brit this allows this often not exactly fit bloke the chance to go 1st class to Aberdeen for about £50 which as you get free breakfast /tea coffee/ Water helps when the travelling is ill , in fact that's how I have tottered back and to Orkney the past x years I book as early as I can and go as lux as I can afford .

I'm not sure, I'll have to look into it. I think the hostel might. (Might.) It would be lovely to meet up with you in April - we'll have to Skype about the details.

Britchick, are you in Aberdeen? For some reason I thought you were further south, like between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I've been to Aberdeen once or twice on a night out back when I was at the scallop fishing. We were berthed in Stonehaven most of the time that summer and we just had the occasional foray to Aberdeen when we were otherwise "blown-in". I really liked Stonehaven, it's very similar people, size and atmosphere-wise (ie small fishing village) to where I live on the Rock. We stopped going to Aberdeen when one of the lads from the fleet drowned in Aberdeen harbour.  :'(

A bit greedy working a disability discount only to sit your lipo-ass down in a first class seat, don't you think? What would Iain Duncan Smith think about this?

Of course, in the US we do not have first class seating on trains -- at least not in the highly traveled Northeast... we're a merit-based society!

Greedy --- leaves more space in 2 ND class
Iain would go nuts and that warms my sad skinny ole Lipo arse cheeks .
As to "we,re a merit based society ! " as I said before Philicia darling you crack me up.

As Tolstoy said to Lenin   " come the revolution everyone travels !st class.
Of course Toly got an ice pick in his brain and Lenin didn,t
Hugles my love
Michael,

PS are you not the chap who said about some free medical thing that you just love getting stuff for Free . No sweat ,  I , and I doubt you, do not make much claim to consistancy .

Aberdeen is a tough town , a lad from the island OD after 6 months fishing out of Aberdeen , lovely lad awful sad.Self medding for work got it badly wrong.

pm your size and I will check for cashmire in the posh charity shops down here , I get great tweed jackets in Scotland plus caps /scares/cravats/ and soft check flannel shirts which are getting hard to find trouble and fun off it is most people take one look and bracket you in that sort off get up .

It could be our very own mini AGM , goose bumps on goose bumps , goodi good.

love
