Passing an HIV test

If one were to get their VL down to an undetectable level with the use of meds and were then tested for HIV by a company who had no idea about said potential employee's HIV status, would this person pass the test?  I assume that they would since the amount in the blood is classified as undetectable (or less than fifty parts per million)  Is there any way to fake an HIV test?

Good question. BUt I think its apples and oranges. An HIV test checks to see if there are antibodies to HIV and when there are, then the test is said to be positive. The VL checks for viral supression that is achieved by the drugs so I don't think an undetectable VL would cause a HIV test to be NEG.  Just my 2 cents.

I've never heard of "faking" an HIV test.  I don't think it's possible, but I will be interested in what others have to say.

No. Once a person has developed HIV antibodies, those antibodies remain in the system for life.

Why would you want to do this in the first place?  For insurance reasons?  Having HIV is covered under the Americans With Disabilities Act as far as discrimination goes.

So I could work for BC Ferries.  A year ago there was an accident and a boat sunk killing two passengers.  Since that time they've really cracked down and have adopted a much more stringent hiring policy.  Oh and I don't need insurance, HIV meds are free here for everyone.
