Tonny2:

ojo.            Hello here!!, this one is for Jim or leatherman… A friend of mine cheers yes had some bloodwork done, his cd4 usually are around 400, cd4% 32, now n his last cd4 test came back 140, %still 32. His doctor reapeted the test, cd4 190, %32 still. I told him he is fine, same his doctor. What say you?…thanks

Jim Allen:
My thoughts are that CD4 monitoring, outside of the first few lab sets is relatively useless in HIV management nowadays.

Generally, the % is a more stable/reliable indication of change in the immune system, not the count. 32% is within the normal range found in the HIV-negative population. I would be happy with that result and from what you told us your friend has consistently had 32% for a while.

Your friend's doctor also has access to his other labs and history, if the doctor did not see anything of concern and your friend is feeling okay then I would tell your friend to relax and move on with their life.
