HIV and living in Ecuador
« on: October 30, 2017, 06:46:10 pm »
I see that this thread is 3 years old.  Hopefully those that currently live in Ecuador are still around, as  my plans for retirement, (in 2 years), included moving to and living in Ecuador. I've visited there several times in the last couple years and have totally fallen in love with the country, culture and people. However, I have just recently been diagnosed with HIV 2 weeks ago, (Oct 19).   So, naturally, my whole life has changed.  My plans for retirement are now an uncertainty, as I begin an  unexpected, altered journey in my life.

I'd really like to connect with some of you that live in South America, specifically in Ecuador.  What could an expat expect as far as hiv-related healthcare coverage, meds, care, ect.  As shocked and asmomentarily devastated as I was the day of being told I was hiv+, I'm just as determined now to make the needed changes in my life to take this on and win.

Ecuador, is something I've been soooo looking forward to.  Anyway, I'd love to connect with those of you who are living in Ecuador or even thinking of living there.

Thanks!
