Stribild - Genvoya & severe insomnia
« on: February 17, 2017, 04:55:23 pm »
I experienced really bad insomnia as well but it was weird it happened 6 months later while on Stribilb. My doctor switched me to Genvoya. I've been feeling really tired. I tried switching my Genvoya to the AM and even PM my insomnia was gone however it came back when I started Zoloft. I'm going to ask if I could switch to Triumeq.

Hi

Georgie, I moved your into its own thread for you.
Sorry to hear your having insomnia problems ad I hoe its resolved soon for you.

So you switched from Stribild (cobicistat / elvitegravir / emtricitabine / tenofovir) to Genvoya (cobicistat / elvitegravir / emtricitabine / tenofovir alafenamide) and kept the Zoloft right

Ill be honest its not much of a change as both drugs are nearly identical, both of them also have a moderate interaction warning with Zoloft.

I had a quick look and Zoloft seems to be pretty well know to keep people up at night, that combined with the interaction warning that Cobicistat found in Stribild & Genvoya increases the blood levels and effects of Zoloft and you experiencing the issue may be a bit of a red flag.

If I was you I would go back and talk to the doctor about the problem and the side effects/interaction notes and see what they say about perhaps switching out Zoloft with something that does not interact with your HIV meds or cause insomnia or if that is not possible than an alternative solution to treat the insomnia and a possible HIV med switch to something that does interact with Zoloft.

Anyhow whatever you do, I wish you all the best with this and hope its resolved soon so you can sleep again.

Jim

There have been many clinical trials involving Zoloft to ensure safety and accurate information. In these studies up to twenty eight percent of patients experience insomnia or sleep issues while taking Zoloft.
