receptive oral with blood and open wound
« on: January 24, 2023, 06:25:19 pm »
First would like to thank Jim and other moderators here for all their work and efforts, you guys are awesome. I've ready probably more than 50 pages worth of support.

My exposure happened on January 10th approximately 6:00 am in the morning, I was still awake after a few days from a bender of cocaine/beer. I was at a friends house and we called two working girls for some "fun". I ended up in the shower with one of the girls and she accidentally slipped coming out of the shower. I asked if she was okay, and said she was. We proceeded to the bed where she started doing oral on me, I think it must have lasted around 1 minute or so, not sure since I was really drunk but noticed it was really wet so I took out my penis and saw blood mixed with her saliva coming out of her mouth and around my penis. Not sure if there was any on my urethra but there was some brownish looking blood spots under my glans (uncircumsized). As soon as I saw that I asked again if she was okay, told her we should stop and I went to wash myself in the shower and peed. Ended up taking her home, going home to shower again and think of everything that happened. I was able to get on PEP at exactly 3:10 pm the same day. So around 9-10 hours later took my first dose of DTG/3TC, which is the protocol here in Brazil where I live and is offered free from our public health system.

Symptoms:
- felt some throat soreness first week of exposure
- feeling pressure around my sinus, like nose area since the incident, almost 2 weeks
- my nose feels like im going to get sick, like the sniffles has been going for more than a week now
- im paranoid and keep checking the mirror if I get thrush
-10 days, feel occasional pains in muscles, back or inner thigh and feet, but lasts shortly

I read most of your articles about oral and most of them seem to be without probably as much blood I had present so im freaking out. Even though I started PEP, I keep thinking I could have started earlier and think Im going to seroconvert as soon as I stop, as I have 13 days left.

Hiya,

Read your post three times; it's not an HIV concern. Move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

When she slipped coming out of the shower, I think she must have bit her inner mouth wall or tongue, even with open wound like that and blood coming out there is no risk for me ?

No and you don't need PEP as you had no HIV exposure from the concerned encounter.

You got a blowjob, get over it and move on.

Hi Jim,

Im back, I took the full months (28 days) worth of PEP just to ease my mind/paranoia and feel more comfortable about the whole situation. I ended up seeing an infectologist in my city in Brazil, who said : "since there was blood present and the penis being a mucus membrane there was a risk." She thinks I didn't get HIV as you have advised as well. I'm feeling symptoms that haven't gone away since. Also to be safe since the incident happened with a working girl, she gave me penicillin and antibiotics shots (that really hurt) last week to protect me of any other diseases.

I completed PEP exactly 8 days ago, and I'm still feeling muscle pains, mainly lower limb regions, thighs, legs, hands and feet. Tingling sensations in feet and hands that come and go. Sinus pain. My tongue is white, I'm getting occasional headaches that come and go as well. My stool is getting looser. Throat pain. I'm almost convinced that she must have had a high viral load in her saliva and blood and am seroconverting. I took antibiotics drugs and penicillin, that there could possibly be no other explanation for this but being seroconversion.

1. I took a PCR test 21 days post the incident, whilst still on PEP, the test came out as not dectected and almost sure it was a waste of money, but incase of PEP failure would the PCR have detected the virus or would PEP mask the virus ?

2. The infectologist seeing how paranoid I am, told me to take another PCR exam again 10 days post last day of PEP which will be 2 days from now... Is this still too early for detection incase I am seroconverting?

I don't know what to do my personal life and career has really token a toll from this all, I can hardly work, I stopped working out, my hands/arms start hurting if I start doing some sort of exercise.. I'm feeling weaker than my usual self, mentally I'm a wreck... If I wasn't feeling this symptoms I wouldn't worry about this incident as you have advised me trust me but since I am feeling symptoms its making me more worried/stressed, I'm not sure what to do ...

You had zero HIV risk, and unlike anyone else, I will not entertain this fantasy and pretend otherwise. I know some doctors, including my own, will even entertain that shaking hands is an HIV risk  ::)

Saliva is hostile towards HIV breaking down the receptors needed for HIV to infect and receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

Also, the blood present doesn't change that. Your concerns are pure nonsense and about as daft as toilet seat questions. Unlike others pretending otherwise, I will not, as it is harmful towards the wider community and unhelpful towards you because you don't learn anything, I don't believe in PEP for peace of mind either, and so I am not going to pretend you had an HIV risk from what you posted here or that you are going to be a worlds first.

Don't post again. You got a blowjob; time to grow up, prehaps stop taking the coke as it makes people paranoid and get over it already!
