Hospitalization
« on: November 15, 2022, 02:26:25 pm »
Well I went to the ER (ED) for the first time since my HIV diagnosis and was admitted this past Saturday.  I knew when I I went I would be admitted but once I told the Dr I was positive and my CD4 count his tune changed and stepped up the urgency fairly quickly.  I'm sure the number of people in this area with this are low so they aren't too familiar on what to do.

They did a good job, worked with me, and I was even able to contact my specialist up at Cleveland Clinic and getting an appointment scheduled with them in a few weeks.

I guess for me I never knew what to expect when I went to the ER and now I know.  Now to get over my bronchitis and add Sepsis to my list of things as from what I read once you get it once it can happen more frequently.

ouch!
are you still in the hospital? At least it's not PCP. I had that twice and sepsis two years apart. Didn't you have PCP back in 2017?

Cleveland Clinic? Is it snowing up that way yet? LOL I lived up in Cleveland and Canton for a couple decades. It's about this time of year, I get to kid my mother-in-law about the no-snow we're having down here in the Carolinas.  ;D I do kinda miss the snow though. I just don't miss the cold.

I sure hope you feel better soon and, if you're in the hospital still, that you get outta there ASAP!

I got out of the hospital yesterday, thankfully.  Just taking it easy now and only doing what my body can do.

Not sure if it's snowing in Cleveland yet but I would assume it has at least once.  I'm thinking I seen it do that last weekend but can't trust my memory.

Well I went back to the ER last night.  My temp was spiking (first time getting a temp with this) and I now have the flu.  Oh fun.

My viral load came back and it's 76 so up just ever so slightly but expected.  Still waiting on my CD4 count to come back.  Not sure why that is taking nearly a week.  Ugh.  I'm sure it's under 300 by this point but sure hope it stayed about 200.  I just know my body went into overdrive and not sure how it affected that.  The ER doctor last night stated that and depending on the numbers more testing needs done.

I see Tungsiripat at CC.  I like her and her fellows that she has.  She also gets back to me quickly when I have questions and works with me as there is quite a distance for me.

The best part of this is my work is being so accommodating, wants the best for me and going to try and find a few PTO days to give to me.  That is amazing compared to my last hospital stay with my prior employer (where I was working on oxygen in the hospital).

Just make sure you all take care of yourself as the flu and RSV (whatever that is) it rampant this year and it's only the start of the season.

Still waiting on my CD4 count to come back.  Not sure why that is taking nearly a week.  Ugh.

My Viral load always comes back in a few days.  CD4 takes sometimes a week to ten days.

I agree,.. The flu is bad this year, and RSV, has been keeping hospitals busy, for a while now. Usually RSV is more rampant is kids, but, adults can get it as well.
