HIV and low grade systemic inflammation
(1/1)
CanadianExpat1983:
I thought this thread is best to post this question and apologies if this has already been discussed.
Why do people who are undetectable on treatment still experience low grade systemic inflammation and premature aging? Does that mean even if there is a sterilizing or functional cure one day, the immunity induced inflammation is likely to persist given the HIV antibodies will remain in our body?
My doctor cant answer this question.

I can't speak to a functional cure, but this article is a pretty good explanation of systematic inflammation and one you may with to share with your doc: https://www.poz.com/article/chronic-inflammation-big-deal-people-hiv
