Lymph Nodes
« on: June 25, 2012, 03:58:56 pm »
I'm going to have a large lymph node removed from my right groin (and biopsied and cultured) on Friday...a 'general' surgeon will be doing the procedure.  I am not overly concerned, because my doctors feel that it is just normal "reactive lymph gland" activity.  The lymph glands in my groin and neck are often swollen, and sometimes quite painful.   We want to rule out any types of carcinoma, etc.

I'll let you know the results, which I honestly plan on being NORMAL; however,  I've been blindsided a few times in the past, as many of you have, so you can never totally say you are 100% unconcerned about tests such as this.

HUGS,
Alan

RESULTS:  Negative

all cultures negative also

so, YEA!

Now I just have to have some time to heal.   I have fluid collecting at the incision site; hopefully, it will absorb on its own and not have to be drained.

Now, on to the next procedure!  Cataract surgery July 26th.  :o

Great news Alan! I hope you heal up quickly. I love good news in the morning!

Cataract surgery, eh? I have them in both eyes, but the doctor said they are not bad enough to operate on yet.

I am rather looking forward to the time when I can get the surgery. I will likely not need glasses afterward, so maybe that will be a plus for you as well.  ;)

Keep us posted.

Are you trying to compete with Miss P on the quantity of medical maladies and procedures?   ;)   It's not a competition anyone wants to win.    :(

I know a few folks who have had cataract surgery, and each has described it as a "piece of cake".  I don't see how any surgery can be that simple, but hopefully this one will be easy for you.

Hi Alan
Take good care of the incision site.  Cataract surgery is a snap.  Kurt just had two new lenses put in, due to cataracts.
Big HUGS.

Good to hear about the lymphs Alan.  I hope the incision clears up.

Good luck with the cataracts.  Hopefully it will go well.  I have one but, like Mark, the doctor said it doesn't need surgery yet.

Continue to heal sweetie! :-*

Thanks for the comments, everyone.   I am thankful it turned out well.

As for the cataract surgery:  I  had my right eye done (2008) and it was a breeze; only thing is having to use eye drops 4 times a day, starting 2 days before and continuing until the bottles are empty.   There are 3 different drops that are used now; when I had the previous surgery, it was 2 different drops and a tube of salve; so the drops are better.  Hopefully, the procedure on my left eye will be equally successful to my previous one.   I have a friend who is at the doctor's office this very minute, because after having cataract surgery and a lens implanted, the lens has become 'cloudy'.  Easy to correct, but still a minor complication.

All of my medical appointments are in Birmingham, AL which is 65 miles south of my home.   Except my eye appointments; my opthalmologist is in my hometown.   In fact, the eye surgery center is a block from my home.   So we look on this one as  'breeze' , comparatively speaking.

HUGs, Alan
