Hi everyone,
Please give the following proposal an up or down vote. If not suitable, please supply feedback to lead me in the right direction. Thanks!
I believe the location is in Dupont Circle.

As a second option, we have Presidentil Signing Room located in B. Smith's Unition Station. This location has a $1000 minimum. As it stands know, the cost would be $50 per person for food and the space. This will decrease if more members announce they will be attending.
-
I forgot to add that I can reduce the cost for Madhatter down to $30 per person. This would reduce the food to only 3 items and reduce the open bar to only beer, wine, and well liquors.
For $25 per person, no open bar.
-
Thumbs up from me! That Upside Down Room could get very funny after some folks have had a cocktail or six........
The cost is fine with me also -- although I don't drink, I know that an open bar would be high on most other people's lists, so I'm good.

Love the Upside Down Room with the table on the ceiling :)
The $45 option looks great.
I'm all in with this.

The 45 dollar option is fine, thanks Dennis.

Hey Dennis,
Mad Hatter looks great to me. I like the $45 option as well.

Ed and I both give a thumbs up on the Mad Hatter. We're kind of spoiled living in this area. We have to get used to those big city prices ! :)
Is the meet and greet still scheduled for Saturday the 28th ?

Well both Bob & I can't really drink more than 2 drinks in an hour as we don't drink that much (were light-weights when it comes to Booze ) however 45 bucks for some very nice tasty food , conversation, and meeting all of you in one place for the very 1st time, sounds like a very good deal to me :)
-
Hi D:
Thank you (AGAIN) for all your hard work.
I'm fine with the$45.00 option too.
RAB :D

totally agree fun place great selection price is right... definite YES from me..

I also like the $45 option, but would be just as cool with the $50 or $30 option as well. It looks like there is a consensus emerging for the one hour open bar option. I am imagining our group with an open bar! It will be worth preserving on film. This DC event is going to be great!

The $45 option sounds good!

The event at Madhatter sounds wonderful. I'm fine with any of the pricing options.
Cheers,
Henry

When would this be? ... I mean, I live in the UK, but am always planning to visit Washington DC sometime ;)
-
I'm fine with any option also. At least if there's not an appropriate food choice, I can still get my moneys worth. ;D

This year's annual AMG is at the end of July - the last weekend, give or take a few days either side. There have been yearly meetings for quite a few years now, and there are threads about most of them (from 2006 onwards) in this section of the forums. Have a look!
-
Late July I could possibly do... I do have a friend's wedding to go to, which may unfortunately take priority! But shall see... could be fun to meet everyone :) If something happens in London, very easy for me to attend.
-
Now that we're *officially* back in, Santi and I are fine with any option. We may not be cheap, but we're pretty easy.
-
So tempted to respond with something snarky, but rather I will take the high road and just say so glad both of you will join us!

Hey Mr. D
I'm just curious if the details are all set for the meet and greet? Day (Sat?), upside down room reserved? ETC.
Thanks again buddy for everything you do for us.
BTW, will you be coming to DC?

Hello All:
I have not heard anything additional from Dennis regarding whether or not accommodations/reservations for the Meet and Greet had been finalized.
Does anyone have a way to reach him so we can see if things are set?
If not, we may have to come up with a "Plan B" ----- anyone want to suggest a "Plan B?" :)

I have a call into Carrie @ Madhatters, she is the only one who handles the groups. In the meantime I've emailed Dennis. Should have something this afternoon or tomorrow.
If I remember correctly Dennis's dad was real sick, so maybe he's been busy with that. Either way we will come up with something.

Is there a possibility of reserving a conference room at the hotel? Could possibly be a plan B.

Hello All,
Sorry to dissapear. All has been arranged. I'll be in touch later with Phil later today.

Of Course Both Bob & I will be going to the Meet & Greet, is the price-tag still the same? isn't that the whole idea, who wouldn't want to attend this :D
Phil, I think there will more than 20 of us, unless I'm wrong :-\
the 5 food items sounds delish to me, what a nice Menu, I can't wait :)

This is a very conservative, low estimate... based on people who responded previously on this thread.... the place is actually supposed to be planning for 25, I believe, per Dennis.
I just got off the phone with Dennis and he is going to touch base w/ Madhatter tomorrow. He will be finalizing the menu selections w/ her.
-
I still plan to attend (if I am correct, this is Saturday evening.) I don't arrive in DC until Saturday morning.

I will be there !

Thanks for including some vegetarian options. It sounds wonderful.

What time witll this start? I will be there, in any event.
Bocker can eat my portion, and I'll drink his. ;)
I can't tell if any of those choices will work, but I will plan to eat earlier.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone.
HUGS,
Mark

I was wondering if this worked into your diet. It appears there should be a couple of things there, but not sure. Not complaining, but last year I had to go get something to eat after the meet and greet.

I remember eating something last year, but I don't recall what it was. Food has become a real point of contention for me, with myself, that is.
I usually plan on eating before or after functions like this because most finger food is verbotten. Maybe there will be a nice Thai place nearby.

Mark,
Northern Virginia, not to mention DC itself, is Thai heaven. There will be plenty of opportunities. I, of course, eagerly await your account of your train travel!

Hi All:
I just received a text from Dennis -
Everything is all set for Saturday, July 28th (7:00 PM - 10:30 PM) at The Madhatter.
To make the process as easy as possible, I will start collecting the $45 on Thursday and Friday (7/26 and 7/27) and during the morning/day on Saturday from those who will be attending and will keep track of those who paid. This will allow us to handle the payment of the Madhatter and get busy with the festivities a lot quicker then if I try to collect everyones payment at the door of the restaurant.
A HUGE THANKS GOES OUT TO DENNIS!
-
Thanks Dennis! You've done it again! Another job well done ;) Although I dont think you will ever be able to top the Little Buddha Meet and Greet in Vegas...those damn Lettuce wraps, I still dream of them.
-Will

Thanks Dennis and Phil, this is awesome news! We can't wait, but will of course!
Bocker can eat my portion, and I'll drink his. ;)
Historically, I'll drink both your portions. Of course, I'm basing this on my behavior in San Francisco, in which I left everything important at the venue (phone, glasses, notebook, my grandfather's vintage suit jacket) and Seattle (where I only partly remember even leaving a venue that wasn't the Meet-n-Greet but has just as damning photogrpahic evidence.) There are 4 other AMGs where I behaved myself, for the most part.
-

You can certainly drink my portion! However, if you cause me to not fit into my wedding clothes, Sid will come hunt you down! :o

Since I can make it to the meet & greet I have a question. Is Thai dipping spicy?

Hi Michelle:
Not sure if the Thai dipping is spicy or not.... I'm not overly familiar with Thai food...
I would think that the key is to not get the Thai guy upset when you are dipping him ;D
I'm planning on "woo-ing" him first, then going for the dip.
Perhaps, someone more familiar with Thai food will chime in...
Looking forward to meeting you in DC!

Yes Mike, it's always nice to have backup isn't it ;)

A thai dipping sauce will generally have a base of fish oil (sounds vile but it's actually delightful -- even have some in my fridge!) and chili sauce. It's the chili sauce that gives it a bit of kick, so it just depends on how much they put in, probably not for a buffet/type line like this but possible.
