Oral Attachment Inhibtor BMS 663068 and Dr. Sudhir PAul??
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:41:21 pm »
Immediately after finding out my status I began to do research on what was in the pipeline...When I heard about the Berlin patient and Sangamo trying to re-create it I was esctatic and believe that in a few years things will change tremendously.  Maybe even the C-word!

But I also dont understand after reading the recent success of the Oral Attachment Inhibitor BMS 663068 from CROI this past week, which binds to the viral envelope gp120 why Dr. Sudhir's E-VAC and abzyme technology sint getting fast tracked.  It basically does the same thing and apparently and hopefully can allow th ebody to create their own abzymes.  The study is below regarding the oral attachment inhibitor

http://www.poz.com/articles/HIV_663068_attachment_761_19957.shtml

And according to Dr. Sudhir Paul they are still trying to rais a few hundred thousand to begin human trials of the E-VAC. (endhiv.com)  I dont understand why this isnt being pushed to the front of the line.  I mean can anyone shed osme light.  I know Zachary Barnett is tweeting about raising money grassrootswise and holding wine tasting to raise $1K here and there but I mean they only need less than a $1M why cant osmeone just get this goingalready...We see that oral attachment inhibitors work so what is slowing this down?

I don't think things will change "dramatically" in the next few years, maybe in the next few decades.  Research takes time, drug research costs millions of dollars and the majority of new drug canidates never make it out of the research phase or move out of trials.

Well I think everyone who owns a facebook page should post the youtube video below or link to endhiv.com and donate at least a $1.  I mean the oral attachment inhibitor clearly shows that blocking the gp120 envelope block replication..So that is a great start...And if the abzyme does the same thing its only proof of concept..

I get it things take time...but this is so close to moving to human trials that I dont understand why some drug company or bill gates just gives them the money

Even if this drug does get approved it would not be a cure.  It does nothing about latent resovoirs. Whats the big whoop?

Dr Paul's work has been discussed here and here and in a few other threads in this forum. Use the forum search box in the left-hand column of any forum page to find other discussions.

Please try to find threads where research is already being discussed in future and add to the already on-going discussion where possible. It makes it easier to find what you want to read about all in one place this way. We ask people to do this especially in the Research forum. Thanks!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

I realize Dr. Paul has been discussed in other threads.  The reason why I bring his research up in this thread and connect it to the oral attachment inhibitor is because both target the gp120 envelope.  The study rearding BMS663068 only solidifies the importance and success that if we can block the gp120 than we might have opened a whole new world to fighting the virus as it attacks the virus before even entering a cell.  So I wanted to share the new study of the new drug bur at also emphasize why we need Dr. Paul's work to begin as quick as possible
Because if success then who knows what can happen with HIV therapy.  If we can geta therapeutic vaccine where our own immune system makes abzymes that target gp120 then maybe a functional cure will
Exist sooner than Sangamos gene therapy!
