Thought i was over this.....
« on: February 07, 2012, 02:54:02 pm »
Hello,
I’m hoping someone can put my mind to rest…. I am a 26 year old male, Married for the last three years to my wife. I have never cheated on my wife and I know she’s not cheated on me. Before I met my wife I was young, dumb and careless and made some bad decisions. So with all that said, Last year around March 2, 2011 I went and took a Hiv Rapid Finger Prick test , which came back Negative. At the time of the test it would have been 2 years since my possible Exposure. The reason for me taking that test, I was showing signs and symptoms (Fatigued most of the day, Headaches, Diarrhea or (soft stool), Dark red bumps all over legs and arms(Itched and Burned like hell) and a whit film like coating on my tongue, (which I could brush it off with a toothbrush) . I did test positive for chlamydia when me and my wife first met, the doctor gave me and my girlfriend (wife) whatever it was some nasty orange drink stuff to get rid of it.

So to get to the point all these symptoms are showing back up. But this time I’m having really bad joint pain and muscle aches, along with all the other past symptoms. I thought the Rapid test are pretty much conclusive after 6 months to a year from possible exposure? Should I take another test, Now being three years from last possible exposure?

Whatever is going on symptomatically has nothing to do with HIV. As long as you did not have any unsafe intercourse outside of your marriage then your negative HIV test result remains conclusive and reliable.

Work with your doctor to find out what is really causing your symptoms. It's not HIV. Period.

drodie,

The hiv testing window period is THREE months, not six. You are conclusively hiv negative.

If your chlamydia had been present for some time before you were treated for it, it may be responsible for the joint pain you're experiencing. You need to see a doctor about your symptoms and mention that you have had chlamydia in the past that may have gone untreated for a period of time.

Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv. You are reliably and conclusively hiv negative.

You do not have hiv.

Ann and Andy i just wanted to say thank you!!! I know it must get irritating reading and answer the same questions over and over. But what you guys provide is what a lot of people are looking for.... reassurance in what most people know but doubt.

Just so you know I am a paramedic, have been for the last 4 years. I deal with people every shift that have O.D. on injections and other substance. I take all the necessary per-cations to protect my self. Just some times things move so fast and your adrenaline is pumping so hard, you start to think after a call if some thing you might have done to expose your self.

But i feel better now and again Thank you, keep doing what you do.
