I can't believe there's no thread about it.  Am I the only one who went out and bought "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" yesterday?

PS don't give anything away, I just started reading it!

I'm waiting untill I have seen all of the movies before I read any of the books. That way I don't get upset about what they leave out of the movies.

I'm taking my nephews to see the 5th one later this week. My folks came back from the shops with a copy of the last one for me this afternoon. Ahhh...so cool to be home!

I got it yesterday too! I love the books. I don't know why, but they enchant me.

I didn't read the thread, in case anyone posted any spoilers. So far, I like it!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Harry Potter books.  She is one of the most amazing writers in our generation.  The way she paints a complete picture in your mind is unbelievable.  Trust me when I say our kids will be studying her writing at some point in time.

I pick up the audio copy today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3/4 way through the last book now.

Iggy, have you read it?  'Cuz the first death is on page 78, actually, but confirmed on page 79.

Thanks Iggy...I was wondering if he died in the last installment that was recently unleashed onto the world.
I've never read any of the books but so far I've seen all the movies...

As for the lady who wrote the books....I believe she's inspired an entire generation.

I picked my copy up first thing Saturday morning.  I did the "bad" thing, and immediately went to the last page and read it.  So I do know the answer, but won't share it here obviously.  But what a doozy.  I haven't read anymore right now just been too busy.  But I can't wait to get into it.

I've loved every one of the books.  Even though they got "darker" in the most recent, they still take you on a wonderful journey through the story.

I don't think we've had a series of books for young  people (and us older readers too) make such an impact, since "Lord of the Rings".  Any author that can inspire so many kids to read (and these books are huge) has achieved something truly remarkable.  Not only are the books long, but they are also very complex.  While it's a classic good vs evil story, there are so many plots, subplots, twists and turns, you've really got to pay attention to what's going on.  Then throw in all the wonderful imagery Rowling writes so skillfully, and well it's no wonder these books have been such an enormous success.

ooooh  Good guess on my part.

OK gonna go with another one  - on page 168 Harry is resurrected but due to a horrible mistake in the spell he must live the rest of his life as Harvey Feirstein playing Mrs. Robinson in the drag Broadway version of The Graduate.

I finished the last book and think I it's the best of the series. It has a lot of action and wraps things up nicely. If the director and production company do it justice it will make a fantastic movie.

I have seen the films, but not read any of the books (they are in the 'children's section' of my library)....

I borrowed books 1 through 5 today from my niece, so I can find out for myself why everyone loves this series so much.

Loved every second of it!

Now patiently waiting for a new robert jordon, raymond feist, david eddings novel to come out.. sigh

After waiting for the neices and nephews to get through their copy, it finally came to Uncle mIkIE's hands. WooHoo! I was going to save the book to read on the plane (I have a trip home for my GrandMother's 90th birthday party) but, oops, 30 hrs later I finished it up. A really good read for sure! Now I have to find something else to read on the plane LOL
