Damned Dates!
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:28:47 am »
I really wish we'd voted on the date of the AMG.  Aug. 18th is the first day of school for me, and I assume many other colleges and universities.  While I'm not one to worry about missing a day or two throughout a semester, it's going to be a difficult to miss four days right off the bat.  Add to that my professors so far give a point or two to a final grade for attendance.

If I sound bitchy and irritable about this... I am.  I'm pissed because I want to go.  We've not missed an AMG since we started attending in 2006.  I hate when I miss out on stuff I really want to do.  Add to the class problem the hotel cost and flights (nearly $1000 for two of us to fly to SEA), and it's close to $2000... something that's going to be difficult this time.  Combined with the time of the AMG makes it even worse.  Who knows, maybe the prices of flights will drop and I'll end up in a class with no attendance policy.

Note to self:  make sure of the date for the next AMG or miss it again.  If the date isn't brought up, bring it up!

Now you listen to me mister.  You 3 just have to come.  I don't care what the obstacles are!  PERIOD/END OF DISCUSSION!

Missing the first couple of days isn't going to make any difference.  Plus you can buy the text books before Seattle and bring them with you so that you'll at least be caught up on the reading.  Also, you could check with the profs., explain the situation, and ask for a one time reprieve.

There, problem solved.  Now book your darn flights!

I was looking forward to meeting some other Carolina dudes.  You never know, it may actually workout that you two can come out for that long weekend (if there is a cheap flight).  Dont totally give up but it is understandable to not miss a chunk of the first week of school.

I am really sorry about this...part of the difficulty was not being able to get hotel space in Seattle earlier in the month (due to conventions I think) but I agree we should settle the dates too before we commit.  The planners try very hard to cover all the angles and it never is easy.

I sure hope it works out that you and company are able to find a way to attend.  It won't be the same AMG without all three of you!

I was in Montreal last week for "spring break" (it was too damn cold to be spring though) and I recalled how we all first met there (at the airport remember?) for our first AMG.  Wow...the years have gone by!

Hope it works out...I know you will keep us posted.

YES!! Listen to RAB. This is a must attend for The DAvids and Bonnie! At least come for a couple days. I've got a grandbaby due right in the middle of it and I'm gonna be there even if it's just for 3 hours :)

Please.

Sigh... I really do hate to miss it.  The finances and the dates aren't going to work out this time.  I can rationalize / justify missing school, but I can't do the same for the finances.  It sucks, as looks like it's going to be a great group and I'd like to celebrate D and my 5th wedding anniversary with the group that we were with when we got married (though D and I have been together for 12 years).  I guess having attended the last five makes it that much harder to miss, as we've grown accustomed to our yearly rendezvous with our AM friends.

Do you guys realize that every year for the last five years we have had cake on your anniversary...now don't you tell the others I said this, but that's the only reason I attend the AMG...so listen up I WANT CAKE and I refuse to have one without you guys.

Seriously, I know how hard it is for you guys because I know you would never miss an AMG if your situation's were different..but I will miss you all terribly, but I also know how much it hurts you all not being able to attend.

What we need is a Sugar Daddy....so if anyone know's one give us a call... ;D

Well, I am bummed out, because I am finally getting to go to AMG again after missing the last two years, and was hope to see you and D and Bonnie again.  However, I understand that you gotta do what you gotta do.  We will be sending you happy thoughts on your anniversary.

Cheers,

Henry

I have developments coming on the job front which actually may allow me to go to this year's gathering as well, but it'll be a last minute addition if it happens most likely.  More to come later!

It's not AMG without DBD.  If I can make it, I'll fall in a tub, drunk, in your honour.

And let's not forget the impression Cliffy made in San Fran.   :P

But seriously, he's spot on about AMG needing DBD, it just wouldn't be the same.  Somehow this has got to work out.
