Interesting article. It highlights the persistent criticism of the HIV-AIDS paradigm that still the majority of cases are among men, which after 10 years - let alone almost 30 - is not the way an std would behave. An epidemic of an std among, say, merchant marines, would eventually spread more generalized into the population.

Beyond the gender [male] dispaity, we still see the race/class disparity.

I do not share the author's lauding of the marriage obsession and DADT, while I do see the obvious discrimination issue involved. It is no mistake the LGBTQ agenda has moved from the militant street protests demanding, essentially, HEALTH CARE, to demanding bourgeois, Establishment-comfirming marriage rights and open-access mercenaries fighting brown people for oil. Yes, this pisses off the right-wing of the country, but the Establishment is just fine with this one, which risks the system absolutely NOTHING.

Just as it is no mistake we will pay billions for this war gays are asking to access while health programs are being eliminated.  Wake up, and smell the Lies.

Great article Em, thank you for it.

I can't believe I had flashbacks to 1985. The fact that many are getting full blown Aids before their diagnosed is totally horrific and unacceptable!

25 years later and not much has changed. Frightening, to say the least.
Positive since 1985
