POZ's job listings
« on: July 07, 2011, 07:35:03 pm »
I hope people are checking out the job listings. We've got members in most of the cities I see and lots of brain power.

Look at this one! (there's plenty more and a bunch in Chicago and NYC) Surely we've got a forum member or a colleague of a member who would qualify...

Director of Research Advocacy

Mission: Project Inform represents HIV-positive people in the development of treatments and a cure; supports individuals to make informed choices about their HIV health; advocates for quality healthcare to respond to HIV and related conditions; and promotes medical strategies that prevent new infections.

Primary functions of this position: The Director of Research Advocacy is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of Project Inform’s HIV/AIDS research goals, including monitoring and encouraging research regarding HIV treatments and a cure, HCV treatment and a cure, treatment of HIV/HCV co-infection, biomedical HIV prevention strategies and health care systems operations. The Director represents Project Inform on drug pricing issues, supports the agency’s education programs, and supports the agency’s public policy and health care advocacy efforts.

Funny you should post that particular job, Em. David Evans recently left us to work for Project Inform and I think (although I'm not 100% certain) that is the job he got. :)

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

His name still appears at the top of the page :

"•These forums are moderated by AIDSmeds/POZ paid staff and volunteers: David Evans (paid staff), Tim Horn (paid staff), Ann Smith (volunteer) and Andy Velez (paid staff). None of our moderators have any conflict of interests (e.g., personal financial relationships with antiretroviral manufacturers)."

Em, that is the job David got. Our loss is definitely their gain. I was sorry to see him go. :(

Grasshopper, I'll remind Tim to amend that. He probably keeps that notice closed and forgot. (You can close the welcome message by clicking on the triangle in the corner.)

So Ann, since you're the only one not getting paid, does that mean you get to apply for David's old paying position??  ;D

Good lord, no! I don't have anywhere near the knowledge and/or experience he does. I wish I did. We lost a great asset when David went back to Project Inform. I wish him well.

David Evans was always a lovely, nice contributor to AIDSmeds, however brief, and I personally wish him well on his future endeavor. I'm sure he'll be a great fit in this new position! Thanks, David, for all of your help here and best of luck.

Wow, that is great for him and Project Inform! Thanks Ann. Okay, so it proves they're real listings and people we know are throwing their hats in the rings for them. This really is great news.
