Bad Idea Bears
« on: July 02, 2006, 11:12:28 am »
Background (Skip if you plan to see Avenue Q anytime soon):

In the musical, Avenue Q, they have these two very adorable (yet sinister) bears called the Bad Idea Bears.  Anytime you are at a cross-road in life and need guidance the most, the Bad Idea Bears (BIBs) arrive just in time to help you make the worst possible decision, yet in the most adorable way possible.  They can make any bad idea sound wonderful, exciting and sensible.  I mean, who could turn down advice from those passive yet chiper, wide-eyed, conservatively dressed, (complete with a pearl necklace and a bowtie), bears (see below)?

When one of the characters is stressed out about finding a job and only having enough money, (borrowed from his parents), to pay the rent, the BIBs show up just in time to suggest that he forget about finding a job and use his parent's money to get drunk on beer instead.  AND that he should by a case of beer, "cause buying in bulk saves you money in the long-run."

Or when two of the characters are ready to go home after a nice evening, the BIBs arrive to suggest that they should drink some harmless Long Island Ice Tea and play a few drinking games.  Once both characters are drunk, the BIBs convince the guy to "Take her home.  She's wasted."

Or when one of the characters is at his lowest moment, they arrive to suggest "you could always hang yourself," then proceed to supply him with rope.

Question

Do you have any BIBs in your life?  Are you your own BIB (at times)?

Me: Yes and Yes!

(okay, I had more to write but it took me too long to write the background...Lol.)

Yep, except in my case it isn't two cute little bears.   ::)

It's my EVIL twin SKIPPY.

LOL and neither do I.

No, actually I was going to recount my very own Bad Idea Bear story from this weekend, but I ended up spending too much damn time writing the background that I just gave up and ended it too quickly.  So it's no surprise you can't figure out what the hell I was trying to accomplish here.   ;D

It all started when Cliff was getting ready for work one morning and realized he didn't have a shirt to wear as he'd sent all his work shirts to the hotel laundry...  ;)

Story Continues. . . . . . . .

So Cliff called down to the front desk to see if he could retrieve the shirts he accidentally sent to the laundry.

5 minutes later there was a knock on the door.

When he opened the door there stood the most amazingly gorgeous French God, he had ever seen.

Skippy
(Evil Twin to RAB)

(Cliff can either tell his story or we'll make one up!)

Is this the gorgeous French God that sold Cliff a $600 shirt?

Oh you guys!  I will finish that damn thing later today.  Though I did like the bit about Thierry Henry of course!  I'd finish that portion of the story, but I'm afraid it would be rated XXX.

BTW, Henry was awesome in beating Brazil in the World Cup.  Go France (ugh, I can't believe I'm saying that)!  Go Henry!!!! (that has a much better ring to it).

Ah, the BIBs made you do that, didn't they. :o

Ok a couple of things

1..get back to the cute (but evil) bears cliff...I need more info
2..I can't believe that France beat Brazil..I'm still shedding tears over that one...but Thierry Henry has helped me get over my disappointment.. ;)

This one is for Rab.

How can Skippy be evil..he is an Australian hero..he has saved hundreds..nay thousands for young boys from near death.

It's his arch enemy Kevin the Koala who is the evil one.

Hugs
Jan :)

I can relate.  The Bad Idea Bears live inside my head:

"It's only a Long Island Iced Tea!  They're so sweet and delicious!  Pleeeease?!!  Please?!  Pleeeeease?!!"

"Play a drinking game!  That's a recipe for fun"

"You need to do something for YOU........buy some beer!!"

"Watch Judge Judy when you feel all sad and alone"

and of course, the big line......."We're your FRIENDS"

ok, my bad idea bear story.....went to a club with some friends the other day.  And my BIB, said that I should take some E.  This is weeks after he tried to convince me to do drugs with him, because "it's safer that way."  He knows which drugs to mix and so it's better for you, than if you just do drugs with any old person.  Anyways I told him that I didn't really want to, plus I have hypertension and don't need to mess with anything that's gonna speed up my heart rate.

BIB- oh, it's gonna be fine.  E just enhances the experience and you're young your heart can handle it.  Here, let's go buy some.  All you have to do is take one and if you don't like it, then don't take another one.

Dummy- Ok

(Dummy and BIB go to the dealer and proceed to purchase E.)

BIB- Get 6 of them.

Dummy- But I'm only gonna take one.

BIB- But it's cheaper per pill if you buy 6.

(Dummy buys 6.)

(Dummy takes 1.)

(20 minutes later...Dummy to BIB)

Dummy to BIB- I'm not feeling anything, I'm gonna just stick to drinking.

BIB- Oh, they are probably weak.  Take two.

Dummy- What!

BIB- The first one has already worn off, and so you can take two since they are weak.

Dummy- ok

(Dummy takes 2 and continues taking more for the rest of the night, which included another trip to the dealer.)

(4 or 5 hours later Dummy stumbles out of the bathroom having come down and realizes that people are literally passed out all over the place and folks looking as though they were zombies.  Dummy goes up to friends and says it's time for him to go home.)

BIB- Oh, don't leave just yet.  Take another E and stay one more hour and then come back to my place for more fun!

Dummy- No!  (Dummy leaves)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following day, Dummy gets a text message from BIB saying he knows of a great interracial, barebacking party we should go to.  It should be fun!

NO!   >:(

Ok...so Dummy did a Dumb thing (depending on how you feel about things like that) at the party..but..Dummy wasn't so Dumb at the end of the night...and certainly wasn't Dumb the following morning when he got the call.

Those BIB can be very persuasive...and evil.... ;) ...Now I want you to tell me the truth...was the BIB with you when you bought the shirt?... :D

Cliff,

You need to make friends with Jiminy Cricket, the little critter that always told Pinocchio the right thing to do. But that might get a little boring.
