Are me and my son infected?

Hello I'm scared and need advice. I broke up with my fiancé in November.  My exposure was in December 2010 having a one nite stand unprotected vaginal intercourse in the dc area with a man who status is unknown. However I was breastfeeding my son at the time who was 21 months and now he is 26
Months. I got a different flu like illness a month following this exposure and my son had been sick with fevers and had gotten a flat red rotovirus type rash on his body. Ever since then I have been experiencing Swollen lymphnodes seborhhic dermatitis night sweats pimple like rash all over body, my face is broken out so bad. I have patches on vilitigo on my body..... I experience muscle twitching. Sensitivity to light neck aches. Muscle aches. Severe abdominal discomfort... Excessive thirst and urination. Pooping excessively. Also I have dry mouth and yellow and white tongue. My son is losing weight. Has itchy scalp. Itchy skin. Same pimple like rash here and there on his body. He itches at his feet and he eats minimal and poops and urinates excessively compared to his intake. I am so scared I'm infected and he is infected as well. Here's the thing.... I have tested and he was tested once...

16 weeks oraquick rapid oral swab negative
18 weeks eia test sent to a lab negative
18 weeks oraquick fingerprick negative
18 week HIV ag ab cmia abbott negative
20 weeks eia sent to lab negative
21 weeks orasure swab sent to lab negative
24 weeks unigold rapid HIV negative

Waiting on results now for eia test sent to the lab....

My son had a rapid test done post 4.5 month exposure from breastfeeding and his was negative. Not sure what test was performed?

Despite all the testing. I still think we have HIV and it's not showing up on out tests due to late seroconversion or in fact we do have advance HIV disease. Please I need help bad

You don't have an HIV concern. You've way over tested. You are conclusively negative.

I can't come to terms with the results. I feel I have a rare type or I'm so advanced I'm undetecting in the tests. Have you had anyone in my case test positive in later times?

As Rod has told you, you are worrying needlessly. You have reliably tested negative for HIV.

Fears and doubts are not facts. Negative test results are facts.

If you can't let go of this unwarranted fear then get some professional help to deal with it. This is not an HIV situation. Period.

If it wer just me showing up with symptoms I would have no problem in saying it is due to stress and anxiety. However my son I only 2 and has same symptoms. I was diagnosed with herpes 1 and my son seems ringer sores on his mouth as well.... Could herpes cause all this distress??

If you're having trouble accepting the fact that you do NOT have hiv, then perhaps it's time for counselling. You have more than tested conclusively hiv negative and so has your child.

If either of you feel unwell, see a doctor to find out what, if anything, is actually going on. Hiv isn't the only illness out there.

We cannot help you further. This is an hiv specific website and you do NOT have hiv and neither does your child.

Ok I will try to stop testing and seek help. It is just extremely difficult to believe I dnt have it. Thanks for advice...S

I can only speak for myself - yes, I'm poz. What that has to do with you I have no idea.

The important point here is that YOU do NOT have hiv. Stop chasing an illness you do not have and go find out what is really going on with you and your child.

I just worry about my son that's all....I've been told to test past six months. I'm not trying to be a bother and have much respect for all of you... I just ask for patience cuz I dnt know what happening. I speak with an infectious disease dr next week...when did u all test positive after exposure?

You don't have HIV and you don't need to retest. I would suggest you heed Ann's warning she gave you and move along.

9 years Poz here, but if I had tested 10 times and had 10 negative results I would be out celebrating not sitting here complaining because you are still "not sure".

You have been told by the experts that you are HIV- listen to them and move on.

BTW..asking someone if they are HIV+ is extremely rude.

Frankly, we are not here to handhold you through every bit of anxiety.

HIV is not your problem. If you have concerns about your son's health you should be talking with his pediatrician/doctor instead of presuming it has something to do with HIV, when it doesn't. You can't pass a virus you don't have.

This is not an HIV situation. Period.

The problem is that us sharing our "experiences" with you is only going to make your anxiety about HIV worse.

You need to step away from the computer, take a deep breath and get some counselling.

If you're really concerned for your child as you say you are, then that's what you'll do.

If the answers or advice you're looking for is for us to tell you to test until you're old and grey, then you've come to the wrong place.

I don't know why you've been told to test past six months - that information is totally WRONG. The window period for hiv testing has been three months for quite a few years now. You need to know that not all health care professionals are up-to-date on their hiv information.

However, we here at AIDSmeds ARE up-to-date. It's our job to be up-to-date.

You and your child are both absolutely, positively hiv NEGATIVE. If you cannot accept that fact, then you need to find yourself a competent counsellor or therapist. We cannot help you with your unreasonable fears here - and that's exactly what your fears are - unreasonable. You do not have hiv.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Allowing you to hang out around here is not going to help you one little bit. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
