Biktarvy and Magnesium
« on: September 13, 2022, 03:05:51 am »
Hi everyone. Im probably being dramatic but I was in the US for a week at the end of August and I drank a good few rehydration sachets (containing 38mgs of magnesium). as I was sweating a lot and not used to the heat (I’m from Ireland )I definitely would have drank one when I was taking my Biktarvy. Just wondering is this a problem?. I feel it wasn’t every day but my memory is sketchy. Would this have had much of an impact does anyone think?

Hiya,

It happened, and I would not be concerned if it was me. A bit like missing a dose once in a blue moon isn't an issue either just try not to let it become a habit.

Of course, if you are really stressed or worried you could call and talk to the clinic, but I doubt they would or could do anything.

How are you feeling otherwise and how was your trip to the US?

Thanks Alan. Yes I think I’m good. I didn’t think anything of it until I seen a packet I’d brought home with me and then seen the magnesium content. I sort of went into panic stations. I could only find one case online of a guy becoming detectable after taking magnesium but he was taking them for months and it was far more than 38mgs.

America was great. Was in New York. Had only ever been there in the winter so it was a totally different experience . The humidity ! 😂 Managed to get a bit of a tan too

Glad to hear it was a good trip.  Have to admit never been to New York during the summer, seems to always be snowing whenever I go.

Thank you Jim

And feeling good. Over two years since the diagnosis. Best place I've been since that time. Still terrified of dating though  :o

Glad to hear you are feeling good; that's excellent.

Dating? Proper dating or just sex? I hate dating, although my HIV status never seemed to get in the way of casual sex.

Yeah actual dating lol. Casual sex is fine but it can wear a bit thin after a while. I think it’s just the fear of rejection because of my status

Well, can't help you with the dating. I pretty much tell people upfront about HIV, and it's never been an issue. Rejection has happened to me for all sorts of other reasons, and I have also rejected people. Part of the game of finding someone you want to spend time with.

That’s great to hear it wasn’t an issue. It gives me hope
