Title: Needle on the beach
Post by: baddog on October 08, 2006, 05:27:59 am
Just wondering how long HIV can live for inside a needle and syringe? I stuck myself with one on the beach and it drew blood. It did look a bit weathered so Im not worried at all, but would just like some figures on how long the virus can stay viable outside the body.

Read the lesson on transmission on this site. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread at the beginning of this section.

You are worrying needlessly about this beach incident.

Cheers,

The risk of transmission from discarded needles is

extremely
low...as Andy has suggested please read the lessons here on how HIV is and is not transmitted.
