how early can you get ARS?
« on: March 06, 2010, 07:19:46 pm »
Hi, Im a heterosexual man that had protected sex with several prostitutes along with unprotected oral sex both giving cunnilingus and recieving fellatio. As far as I know the condom was fine no breaks. That was past Sunday Feb 28th. On Monday March 1st I did a 69 position with a prostitute non protected with some rimming, she finished me with fellatio. On Tuesday, about 48 hours after protected intercourse I became sick, slight fever with vomiting, 1 day later I got a sore throught and cough and some loose bowels. Can you get ARS symptoms so soon like in 48 hours? Im worried about the 69 position because Im not sure how far I put my tongue inside her vagina, maybe I put it far enough inside to get the Virus. Also I have herpes, but not having an OB at the time, does that make me more likely to become infected?
Im really worried because Im never sick, and now I have all these symptoms like fever and sore throat and no appatite.
So do you think this is too eary for ARS?
Please ease my mind
Thank you in advance

You are not going to have ARS because you have never been at risk of contracting HIV.

No comments? Can someone begin feeling the effects of ARS in a matter of 24 to 48 hours?

gra,

NO, ARS does not come on that quickly.

And in your case, why should it? Nothing you did or had done to you was a risk for hiv infection. Protected intercourse is not a risk. Getting a blowjob is not a risk. Going down on a woman is not a risk. NO RISK.

It's cold and flu season and there's plenty going around. Just because you don't usually get sick doesn't mean you can't. I know several people who "never" get sick who have been sick with the seasonal bugs this year. So get a grip. Just because you had sex with a sex worker doesn't mean you got hiv. Hiv isn't a punishment, ya know?

Keep using those condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

gra,

Since you had NO RISK, you can test at any time, as long as it is three months past your last incident of UNPROTECTED anal or vaginal intercourse.

Thanks, I guess I'm just worried because I have thus terrible sore throught that won't go away even though I'm taking anti biotics. Also I read that if you have herpes it increases the chances of being infected because it changes the lining of your mouth and urethra, making it easier for the virus to get in. Have  you read this?

We are very aware of how HIV is transmitted. You never had a risk.

gra,

I hope you're aware that while you cannot get hiv from going down on a woman, you CAN get some of the other, more easily transmitted infections like gonorrhea or chlamydia and these can cause a sore throat. If your sore throat persists, go get your throat swabbed for these as well as strep. You may also want to be checked for mono. You may not be taking the correct antibiotic or if it's mono, no antibiotic is going to help.

As for hiv, you did NOT have a risk.

Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. Discuss them with your doctor if they continue. This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.

Thanks Andy, I guess I'm just worried because numb hands are a symptom and I've never felt this before. I guess I'll just have to put it out of my mind.

gra,

You're thinking of peripheral neuropathy. PN is a result of some of the meds used to treat hiv, or very long-term untreated hiv infection. It's not something that normally happens in primary infection.

You didn't have a risk for hiv infection. If you're worried about your hands and feet, go see your doctor. You could be missing something important in your misguided focus on hiv. You don't have hiv.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

For my own peace of mind I got tested today at 3 weeks.
The doctor told me I should sleep good tonight because the odds are in my favor.
Now I just have to keep busy till tommorrow.

And since you didn't have a risk if you decide to continue testing you will continue to get negative results.

There was never a need for testing to begin with other than for your peace of mind.

Get on with your life.

Hi, Im sorry to be posting again because I dont want a time out, but its been 4 weeks and Im experiencing new symptoms. Ive been having a bloated stomach with loose bowels at first followed by constipation, and Ive been having night sweats for the last 3 nights, I wake up covered in sweat, this coinsides with my bloated stomach it all started at the same time. Do you think that given theses new symptoms I should be tested again at 6 weeks?

Whatever is going with you symptomatically has nothing to do with HIV. No HIV testing is necessary. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.

gra,

We don't give out opinions in this forum, we give scientifically accurate transmission information.

Condoms have been proven  to prevent hiv infection and it has also been proven that getting a blowjob and going down on a woman are NOT risks for hiv infection. There have been long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

You didn't have a risk and if you keep going on about this no risk situation, you WILL be given that time out you've been repeatedly warned about.
