My Birthday is coming up...

I’m excited for the day, but I don’t want anything. Maybe to improve at my job. But no one can really give that to me.
But since it’s my birthday I began going through the negatives in my life. Then I decided to write a list of positive things.
It changed my day around. I’m going to be 44. I just need to be proud of this fact. And be thankful for my family.

Happy Early Birthday! 

I had my 59th birthday back in March. Even though I don't really like all-l-l-l the effects of getting "older", I'm always upbeat about my birthday and glad to be getting older.

I still remember that doctor in 1996 on the eve of Mar 14th (my bday) telling me that I very well might never wake up to turn 36 because of well, you know, the aids and PCP. I also remember that other doctor in 1998 on the eve of Mar 14th telling me that I very well might never wake up to turn 38 still because of the aids and with a new bout of PCP.

It's easy to pay attention to the negatives in your life, so that was a great idea to really take time to ponder the positives. Personally my 40s and 50s have been awesome. I changed states; I got healthier; I got married; we got a dog; and bought a house.

after 30+ years of HIV, while I know a positive attitude alone will keep you happy and healthier, I do believe looking at the positives in your life does help keep you happier, healthier, and breathing for another day.

That reminds me of a nurse who told me, “If I were you, I would do everything I wanted.” I took it as a reason to do all I wanted before the two to five years I was told I had were up. I ended up living long enough to claim bankruptcy. I sat in a Los Angeles building. The panel of people asked why I wanted to claim bankruptcy. I told them that I was HIV positive. I got my bankruptcy.
Ever since then I have been careful with my credit.
Can I ask what PCP is?

Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is an opportunistic infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii

after nearly dying of that stuff twice, I stayed on Bactrim for another 10 or 12 yrs until my tcells were over 250 so I wouldn't almost die (or maybe really die!) of aids-related pneumonia again

My husband was once on Bactrim. He had aids and now his cell count stays above 400 and he’s been undetectable for some years now.

I tell you what, we may be getting gouged by the pharmaceutical companies  , but damn those drugs sure do work.
