Thomas,

sorry about your confusion and the intensity of your plight -- it is quite evident.  but hey, one thing stands out more than anything else -- your love for the woman and your really high opinion of her....

I would say stick to your hopes - she has been there for you... and she will need your support.  You know, one thing that I have learnt is that our own confidence radiates and influences those who want to help us. Re the pregnancy, increasingly, there are positive outcomes.  many people are now giving birth to negative babies, provided proper prenatal care is taken.  So focus on that.  I have a 8 yr old son who is + and is doing very fine...has been undetectable since age 2, and doing very well.  So, don't get so down.  There is a lot in the offing for you both. Why don't you want to marry her...there should be no rush or pressure to do so..take your time...and i'm sure you both will come out fine.

take care....DK

Hi,

It seems like the love you will give this baby regardless of hiv status is what will make this child thrive. I know of a family friend who has a daughte who is doing fine, and she is in her teens now. If she is getting proper pre-natal care, than the chances of it being poz are very low. I heard that c-section delivered babies with mom taking hiv meds and prohylactic doses for the child reduces the risk by over 90 percent. Anywhow looks like you need to get on her insurance to avoid more anxiety as far as your quality of care is concerned. Some employers only require domestic partnership to be eligible for insurance coverage.

Lots of luck

Thomas, I just speak from my experience being Married to Will....  I know my troubles are now "Times Two."  As well, my joys are also "Times Two"...   I still feel the benefit of being together is what carried me through the troubles.  I hope I can do the same for hiim when or if that time ever comes...   Tom, be at peace with youself and listen.  You will get the right answer.  But I dont think we can tell you which way to turn here..

Love,

As queen said im kind of piecing this all together from the other posts.  But my initial reaction is this:

I wouldnt be nearly as worried about the HIV as I would about you actually spawning a little thomas/thomasina onto this world!!!  I just dont think we could handle it!

Otherwise, you will handle this like all things in your life....head on and full of gusto!

Thanks everyone for the kind words...

Sorry for the confusion with deleting my initial post.  I have been a little out of it the last few days.   I am going on little sleep because of my knee which is really beginning to get on my last nerves.  Tomorrow I go in for my first lab results since starting meds and a physical which I know will be done half ass-ed by the sorry nurse practitioner I must deal with.  It is amazing she is allowed to even work with HIV/AIDS patients.  She also oversees case management there.   I go from absolutely the best health care I can imagine in Miami to this lying piece of shit bonehead...  Sorry I had to say it.

On to better things though..  J (my girl) is in her 5th week..  I am pampering her to the hilt at home and from what she tells me they are giving her the royal treatment at work.  She got her labs back last week and they were Cd4 829 and Vl undetectable...

She went to the person i human resources today at work and they told her I would be added to her insurance 30 days after we got married.  I do wonder about any pre existing condition clause though.  When she started there she immediately got insurance and nothing was ever said, so maybe it would be the same for me.  We have not set a date yet.  I just do not want it to be a forced thing because of the pregnancy and insurance reasons, however I do agree with her that we should get married before the baby is born.

Right now the names of choice have already been chosen... If it's a boy it will be Thomas Jr. ; if it is a girl it will be Lila Jade.  Not sure if  I am spelling it right, I am going by what J told me she wanted for a girl's name.  It is pronounced LIE  LA  so correct me if you know.  I would ask her, but I have already put her to bed... ;D

  Thanks again all...

  Thomas

Edited:  I originally goofed and said these were my first labs...

Sounds real good, Thomas.  I read your thread earlier and even searched for past posts to see where you had been venting.  Glad to hear that I didn't miss something important.  Yes, Lila is pronounced Lie/la here, too in the commonwealth of MA. :)  Best, Win

Oh, and WOW!  ;D

By the way, I like the new photo.

Thomas,

Congratulations on the impending birth and your engagement!!

With respect to the insurance, you should be fine.  I did the same thing with my husband when I added him to my policy, and he was covered right away.  So, you shouldn't worry about it.  You have better things to worry about :)

Bachelor party at my house... We can all have a 40 ounce and a dime bag of your choice... (Now that's gangsta!).

Before I get slammed for being a bad dad...  I just do pizza! ;)

That reminds me I got some coupons yesterday in the mail for Pizza Hut's hand tossed pizza....  yummmm I want some red onions, mushrooms, and pepperoni!

Cute baby names!   ;D

 Thanks Alex...
