In this, our 30th Anniversary Year, this conference will explore the history of HIV, Stigma and Social Inclusion within the areas of addiction, homelessness, sex work, the LGBT community, the migrant community, and specifically people living with HIV in Ireland, since 1987. We will also be launching Ireland’s first National HIV Stigma Survey since 2007.

I'm attending the conference and will post about it tonight.

17% of Irish people living with HIV have suicidal thoughts... this in comparison is high compared to about 4% in the USA.

In Ireland 32% of people living with hiv experienced unwanted disclosure of their status. 18% had their status disclosed by/in a healthcare providers setting >:(

It's shocking but not supprising to hear that under the Irish population 24% think kissing is a hiv risk, and 9 % still believe sharing a WC seat.

Will check in tonight.

we've got pretty bad numbers in the states in the South, and stigma....well that goes hand in hand with all the problems that cause those bad numbers.  I see a lot (a lot, a lot, a lot) of internalized stigma, and wish we could do something to reduce some of that

thanks for the update. looking forward to hearing more
