What to do with extra drugs?
« on: December 06, 2006, 03:00:33 pm »
I'm switching from Sustiva/Truvad to Atripla.  For some strange reason, I have an extra bottle of Sustiva.  My doctor said he would take them from me, but I would like to know if there is a clearinghouse for these drugs?  It seems there should be a place you can send them to, that will make sure the neediest among us receive them.

Your A.S.O. might.  GMHC in NYC has a collection program which is most likely on their website.  Your i.d. doctor's office is another good choice, as you know.  As long as you feel that they are going to get to someone, that is.  Win

I had the same problem and someone directed me to TheStarfishProject.org (The Starfish Project) located in NYC.  They sent me mailing labels to pay for shipping and I sent my unused meds to them.  They distribute to the meds to the needy in Africa.  I guess it doesn't matter who gets the meds as long as someone, anyone, that needs meds gets them.

What about in Canada?

I accidentally left a full bottle of sustiva and a full box of Kivexa in my car when I was at school one day and the temp outside plunged to -10. I called the clinic and they said they wanted to replace them to be on the safe side (sorry albertan taxpayers!). I still have them both, don't know if the day in the cold will have made them useless or if there is somewhere in Canada I can send them? the clinic doesn't want them back...

Lisa collects meds.
She helps out Forum members in need.

Just take in account that she has gone through some rough times lately.

I decided to send them to Lisa.  She'll know what to do with them.  Thanks everyone.
