Title: Drug Testing for job
Post by: stirredspirit on March 02, 2007, 12:16:01 pm
I have heard that people who take sustiva (as I do in atripla) can get a false-positive result for marijuanna in urine drug screening for ilicit drugs.  Does ANYONE have any information or experience with this?  They say you can tell the screener that you take sustiva (atripla) and they can do a more sensitive test to prevent a false-positive....but I certainly don't want to do that since this is for a new job.  HELP!

One of my sons had a positive result on a drug screen, because he had taken one of those "clean out" regimens to help you pass a drug screen.(as he is an avid pot smoker)
The lab people asked him if he was on HIV medicine when he went in to pick up his results.

I was told by the lab that did my test that they would perform a more sensitive test if they felt a false postive would result because of a person's medications.  If it is an independant lab like mine was they are legally bound  NOT to disclose your health issues and also the medications you take.   If this is just a drug screening and not a physical are they giving you some kind of paper to sign with a spot for you to fill in what medications you are on?

Thanks for the responses so far!  I really don't know who will be doing th test.  It's a huge national retailer so I assume it's a separate lab.  I just want to handle it the right way and NOT reveal my status.
