Sorry to hear about this, Real. Is this the cause of your recent weight loss?

I hope the clinical director had some good news for you regarding treatment. What did he say?

Hey Real,

What a horrible way to spend the day.  I hope the diagnosis is favorable and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you all for your wishes. To be honest, I shouldn't have really posted this morning, I'm not particularly in the right head space to think about this. My health seems to be moving at such a fast pace that it irritates me (along with lots of other things). An out of the blue diagnosis, starting with a low CD4, starting meds within 4 weeks and now this. I haven't even got to the big three-0 yet. I'm still yet to take a day off sick since dx and I'll be damned if I'm going to start now.

Is this the cause of your recent weight loss?

Probably although no one has linked it at clinic. As of yesterday I'm down another 4 pounds since my last weight check (I stopped weighing myself at home).

I hope the clinical director had some good news for you regarding treatment. What did he say?

It's a she, never met her before (they seem to adopt this title in rotation). She phoned the day before, told me and said I had to go in. No indication of treatment. If, on the off chance, it was benign treatment is to do nothing apparently. I gave a sample for AFP, CA19-9 and CEA tests for confirmation and there was some talk about an MRI being arranged.

Yesterday was hard, I'm currently in dispute with the clinic and really didn't want to go back but didn't have much choice really. Total headspin.

I'm sorry to hear about this news and hope it isn't serious.  You may have mentioned this in a previous thread and I missed it, but how did you and the docs come to discover this?  I know you mentioned weight loss, but were your liver numbers out of whack?  Other labs out of whack?  It would be educational to many of us to know what symptoms you had incase it ever happens to us.

We're all hoping for the good results!

All the normal labs are fine (apart from low phosphates which is unrelated). It was flagged in an ultrasound being done for something else.

Good news! Keep us posted on how things progress. Hopefully it won't become a problem further down the road.

Have you ironed out the dispute you were having with the clinic? If not, PM me and I can give you a name and number of someone who can help.

Awesome News. Does anyone know what the relationship is between HIV and Liver problems?  I was diagnosed with HIV because I was having issue with my liver as well.  Im neg for all hep's and vaccinated for A and B.  So its not hepatitis.
