Hello Frankie

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  If it is any help, this site has more information on CMV and the different treatments in the lessons: https://www.poz.com/basics/hiv-basics/cryptococcal-meningitis

Much as I am sympathetic of your current condition Frankie, we do need to put a few things into perspective, if only for the benefit of other readers.

None of your previous post indicated that you have taken a HIV test, or if you did indeed, when? Did you also take the confirmatory Western blot test? CMV is indeed a major health risk for HIV+ folks like all of us, but the virus is only dangerous when our CD4 is low, like below 50. It's also worth noting that as much as half of the US population (similarly worldwide) has CMV, but it doesn't post any threat to them/us and given its prevalence most of us already have it anyway whether we're aware of it or not.

And in one of your posts you said you did a test and found out as recent as 2 days ago that you have a CD4 count of over 700. I am not saying HIV cannot progress to AIDS within a short time in some cases, but the facts just don't add up.

Many of us are well informed on HIV, its progression to AIDS (without treatment) and many OIs, CMV being one of the most common. We'd definitely hope you can pull through, whatever health problems you're dealing with now, but you'd need to at least tell us:

- WHEN did you take the HIV tests, including Western blot, that gave you this recent HIV+ result

- WHEN was your last HIV negative test

- WHEN did the risky encounter take place that you suspected of you being infected with HIV (you said 5 months ago?)

Sorry to be pushy, especially with all your reported health problems..
