Assess my situation please????;
« on: December 28, 2013, 12:55:39 am »
Recently, i had gay sex on two occasions. Both involved unprotected oral and protected anal sex. On the 2nd occasion, when i was about to give oral sex to the other guy, i noticed that there was some liquid on his penis. Im not exactly sure what it was. Then, before i had anal sex, he accidentally pressed his penis against the tip of my anus. After that we had protected anal sex (with me as the top) I'm a little worried because of the liquid on his penis as well as the accidental pressing of his penis on my anus (although no penetration). Recently i've been getting alot of headaches, rash that lasted for about an hour all over my face and diahrrea.
I'm abit afraid also because I brushed my teeth 20 mins before the encounter, and worried about the liquid on his penis. What if it is cum?

I'm a little worried about any HIV risk, could you please assess my HIV risk? And whether I should get tested?

marc,

The sexual rubbing (or just touching) body parts together without penetration is called frottage and frottage is NOT a risk for hiv infection. You can stop worrying about his penis touching your anus, regardless of what the fluid was.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, frottage is not a risk as it does not involve penetration.

Unless you have terrible oral health (bleeding after brushing does not qualify), you're worrying needlessly about oral.

In adults, hiv is transmitted through:

Unprotected anal intercourse.

Unprotected vaginal intercourse.

Sharing drug injecting equipment.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY FOLLOWING ORAL, FROTTAGE OR PROTECTED INTERCOURSE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the informative reply. I feel much better about my situation now. I've got one question though, what is your measure of poor oral health? And what level of oral health will put you at a risk of contracting HIV via oral sex?????

Thanks, and I really appreciate your help and prompt reply.

Marc,

Google for pictures of "meth-mouth". That's the type of poor oral health we're talking about.

Please keep in mind that while you do not need to test for hiv over these two specific encounters, you should be testing regularly - and that means for ALL STIs, not just hiv.

The other STIs are MUCH more easily transmitted than hiv and should also be regularly tested for. They're important too - for example, untreated syphilis also leads to death and untreated chlamydia can lead to infertility and other problems such as arthritis. In fact, you should regard hiv testing as an add-on to your regular sexual health check up, not the other way around.

Regular sexual health check ups are no different to regular dental check ups. They both act to keep you healthy and smiling. :)
