Sex with a Trans girl(sex worker). Possible HIV exposure?
« on: January 30, 2024, 04:01:45 am »
Hello,

I just had protected anal sex with a trans sexual worker. I am HIV negative, her status is unknown. I was topping  her. I wore a condom. I had a deep paper cut and an abrasion on my fingers that bled earlier today. When I took the condom off after ejacuating, I touched it with my fingers. One of the cuts touched the top of the condom which had lube on top of it and probably some of her anal secretions after I took my penis out of her anus. After taking the condom off I took a shower and washed my pubic hair, penis and groin area while my fingers had those two cuts. Also, I have a couple of inflamed pubic hair follicles and in my groin which came into contact with her anal secretions when my penis got flaccid after cumming and the condom that was still on my penis laid down on my pubis.
Also, while penetrating her, we heard a noise inside her anus. We thought a condom broke but if was just probably a fart. After sex, I checked the condom and filled it with water and it was intact.
Did I have a risk of HIV infection based on the situation described above?
I am super worried. Do I need to take PeP for this encounter?
Thank you!

I am HIV negative

Why do you think this? Outside of this recent encounter with the sex worker, are you otherwise celibate?

Last time I had sex was a year ago. It was protected. And I was tested for HIV and other STDs in December 2023. Everything was negative

Thanks for the reply.

The fingering or at least touching things and fluids with your fingers, in this case, lacks the conditions, including the route needed for you to acquire HIV; hence, nobody has acquired HIV this way. This includes touching your penis afterwards when taking off the condom or the condom touching your pubes, as that also isn't an HIV risk.

So, the cuts to the fingers and inflamed hair follicles change nothing, and it's not a route for HIV.

As for the intercourse itself, HIV can't be transmitted through an intact latex or polyurethane condom, and unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening. Stop filling condoms with water!

Move on with your life!

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim
