Advice on new med regimen requested

Ok folks, starting the next phase of the clinical trials for the Viramune study.

Up till now, (last 3 weeks) I have been having to take only the one viramune (half dosage) at night along with a Truvada.  Starting tomorrow morning I begin my twice a day treatment which is one Truvada a day and then three "Viramune" pills (either two in the morning and one in the evening or visa versa) a day.

The thing about the "Viramune" is that one of the two bottles contains a placebo (I have to take a mix of the two bottles everyday).

So here's the question:  Does anyone think it matters or has any advice as to taking either the two Viramune in the morning or evening and whether it is better to take truvada in mornings or evenings.

Not particularly worried or concerned to be honest, just thought I ask the group in general in case anyone has a specific leaning.

Hey Iggy,

I would continue taking the Truvada at night, As you have been. I would probably take the two viramunes in the evening, since you will be going to bed. Take one in the day

When I was taking both my viramunes ( at the same time) I was taking them in the morning, along with the Epzicom( which is a combination of two drugs). Then I would take the Viread by itself at night.

I take one Viramune mid-day; the other at bedtime with the Truvada.   I could take them all at the same time, but have done twice-a-day dosing for so many years, it is second nature to me. 

My complaint with Truvada is the G.I. issues (gas/bloat/discomfort)....I take it at night to try to 'lessen' the effects (but not sure how much good that does!)

I take my Truvada (in the form of Atripla) in the morning.  I haven't noticed any effects from it at all, and it seems to be working!

hey Iggy,

no advice. i take my truvada in the morning but simply because i'm more consistent at that time of day and therefore less likely to forget.

off topic a bit, but what are they trying to study in your trial? your regimen of mixing a placebo and viramune has me interested. ok to point me to another thread if i missed it.

Hi iggy.

I'm a morning man myself.  They say Sustiva causes nightmares but I have my share of them every night.  I can't imagine what it would be like to take my Truvada at night.

I really appreciate everyone's advice and thoughts. 

I've decided to stay with the Truvada in the evening along with the one Viramune, as I was already taking those two at night anyway so it will be easier to transition to a new schedule, and also based  on Alan's reminder about bloated/gas (this way only Jeromy has to suffer any night bursts if they happen  )

So my schedule will be:

Morning
- 2 Viramune (1 Blue label bottle & 1 Yellow label bottle)

Evening
- 1 Viramune (Blue label bottle)
- 1 Truvada

Add my Valtrex and Testim, and my side of the medicine tray is comparable to Jeromy's!  Actually he has this great daily med dispenser which has compartments for morning and evening dosages which I'm going to use and set up my meds every week in advance so I don't forget.

The purpose of the study is basically just to study extended release Viramune and hence why the placebo is in the mix.  Most likely the blue labeled bottles (which I take twice a day) are the placebos and the yellow labeled is the extended, or I don't have the extended at all and the yellow is the placebo with the blue being the regular viramune.
