Title: white spots on skin
Post by: gregftl on November 28, 2006, 11:30:22 am
i've noticed ever since i've been poz....6yrs now.....esp in the last few years i have been getting those white spots on my skin alot more than before testing poz.........after tanning or laying in the sun. the dr prescribed me some fungal cream which doesnt seem to help.....and i also tried selsun blue. anyone know of any other treatment or herbs that might get rid or help lessen the effects of these white spots?

a 2nd question. i take acyclovir to prevent herpes outbreaks. i've had outbreaks before and notice after they are gone a white patch on one of the areas of the outbreak. is this one of the side effects of herpes outbreaks or is this white patch just a coincidence?

Greg,

I don't know the answer to your first question, but the white spots you get after a herpes outbreak (on the site of the herpes lesion) is scar tissue. It's normal.

shouldnt the white spot from the herpes outbreak eventually heal though? it's been there for like 3yrs now. anything i can do to make it go away for look better? it's right underneath my testicles and above my anal region. i wear a speedo to tan so maybe i should tan that area?? i'm a bttm so it can be embarrassing even though it's only like 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch....but a few "picky" tops do ask about it and i just tell them i had a waxing accident lol. but still....it's very embarrassing.

Greg,

It will fade with time, but how much time is anybody's guess. For me, I had one that took around ... musta been ten years before it finally faded away completely. I don't know if tanning will help - mine is also in a place where the sun don't shine (normally!) ;)

You could also blame it on a birthmark. My daughter has a birthmark on her tummy - I forget the proper name for this type, but it's an area with an absence of the melanin that gives us our colour, so it appears whiter than the surrounding skin. Hers is shaped like Cyprus. :D

Hi Greg,

I started getting those pesky little white spots while living in the tropics.  In Hawaii they called it "Howlie Rot".  I was HIV- at the time.  Have the best day
