« on: June 24, 2012, 02:02:00 am »
Friends....

I am suffering with sore throat ( Irritation in throat ), fever, cough from yesterday evening (saturday). My clinic is not working on Sunday. Please can any one help in this meantime which tablets can I take?

I am gargling with Betadine( Providine-iodine IP 2% w/v & alcohol content 8.38% w/v) & taking paracetamol 500mg. Still I am not getting any relief. Fever is not going away after taking 3 doses of paracetamol.

You're gargling with Betadine???  Wow.  I've never heard of this.  Have you tried over the counter cold medicine other than the Betadine/paracetamol?  Maybe trying something like Dayquil etc. would give you some relief until you could get into see your doctor.  I don't know if you're here in the US, but if not, it would seem there would be something like this in any country, I'm thinking.

How are you not vomiting from the betadine gargle-fest?   :o

My suggestion would be to drink plenty of fluids, take some vitamin C, and rest up.  And maybe try ibuprofen for the fever instead of paracetamol?

I agree. Also don't stress. Everyone gets a sore throat.  :)

There is a cold going around... My neg partner just got over the exact same symptoms and I am coming down with them now.

If it's viral, then there isn't much you can do... Stay home, rest, drink plenty of fluids. Of course, go see your doc if you think it is more than just a cold...

I had it a couple weeks ago..When I first started feeling it come on, I took Cold-eeze..That stuff really does work to shorten your oncoming cold!! But it only works at the first signs of the symptoms coming on..Take NyQuil and DayQuil also..That helped me out. Plenty of OJ too to boost ur immune system..Hope you feel better!!
