This woman has been through alot..the cheating, the lying, the separation, the cancer.

I knew she had breast cancer, but didn't know it had spread and is terminal. I guess I wasn't paying attention. To top it all off looks like she may pass during the Christmas season.

Yeah, I don't know enough about her to either be a fan or a non fan, but I am definitly not a fan of "Slick Johnny". My heart goes out to the kids.

This is sad.  I read her book Resilience, and she's a heck of a woman.  Too bad for the children.

I saw this on the news tonight.  This is sad.  For me, the thought of dying and not being around to enjoy family and friends is so scary.  The thought of nothing is scary.  I wish I believed in Heaven.  Even before HIV, I hated to think about dying--even at 100.

I wonder how much all that drama and stress impacted her health.  We know it has an effect.  I actually got to shake hands with her when she, John Edwards, and John Kerry were here campaigning in 2004.

According to my NYT newsfeed, Mrs Edwards has just bought the farm. She was 61.

Wow this is really sad news. Being from NC I was very hopeful for John's political career. The whole scandal is really just sickening, and I admire Elizabeth for her actions following the affair. No one deserves to be taken at such a young age. I hope she is finally at peace!

Wow, that was fast.  Very sad news.  The cancer had spread to her liver and she died of liver failure.  I keep thinking about what was reported that John had told Ms. Hunter that Elizabeth would be dead soon and out of the way.  If that quote is true, that tells us even more about him.  Her kids had already lost their brother, Wade, in a car accident.  And, now their mom here at the holidays.

I was thinking of something cavalier.... along the lines of him rolling around on the floor in tears, filled with guilt, and screaming, "I'm sooo sorry Liz!!".  But, you're probably right.  They say marriage will do that to ya, but I don't know.

Sad news indeed, though I wasn't all that keen on her.  There was something about her ambition and willingness of overlook his discretion that didn't feel right (similar to HRC).

It appears that the planned protest at Mrs. Edwards funeral did not go entirely as planned:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/12/11/edwards.funeral/index.html

Excerpt:

"...The "public" mourners included several hundred people who packed a balcony inside the church, as well another 150 supporters who gathered a few blocks away from the church for a counter-demonstration against a group of picketers from the controversial Westboro Baptist Church.

The Kansas-based congregation is known for its extremist opposition against homosexuals, Jews and other groups and regularly holds protests at funerals for fallen U.S. service members, saying the war's dead are God's punishment for the country tolerating gays and lesbians.

In the end, only five Westboro congregants showed for the protest, which took place in a cold, steady rain..."

I was so glad to see the network news not focus on Westboro.  NBC didn't even mention them in their funeral coverage.  ABC News just made mention that only 4 or 5 of them showed up in one sentence at the end of their story.  I was afraid they would give them too much attention, but they didn't.
