Hi experts and members,first of all many thanks for your service.Hre is my concern
11 weeks before i tasted precum (Performed fellatio) of a guy for few minutes,he didnt ejaculate in my mouth,after 2 weeks of exposure i started having severe joints,muscle pain,remained for 2 weeks.Then started subsidising but not completely,still i experience fatique.Mean time i experienced several symptoms like diarea,headache,constipation,drynose,muscle tingling,tender bones.I tested -ve at 4,6 and 9 weeks,today i developed a soar in my lower jaw !!! Once food enters the body it starts giving some problem for digestion also.

Can you relate my symptoms and suggest your view about possible infection? Other than this i have never indulged in any kind of sex .

Nothing you are reporting is in any way suggestive of ARS or of HIV-related symptoms in general. But that isn't surprising since 1) neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to know your HIV status and 2) what you did sexually did not put you at risk for transmission.

Your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV IF in fact the person you were with was HIV+. Although from time to time we hear of someone insisting they became effective through giving oral, those cases never seem to hold up under careful scientific scrutiny.

Common sense does dictate that you not give head if you have very poor oral care or a fresh, bleeding wound in your mouth. Otherwise we don't consider it to be a risk only in theory. The real risks for HIV transmission sexually are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms for those activities and you will be well protected.

If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor. This is NOT an HIV situation and no testing for HIV is necessary.

Thanks Andy,how do you feel the reliability of 9 weeks test ? I was told by one of my friend that the test is reliable after the symptoms subsidise,is it meaningful? Have you seen anyone in this forum -ve at 9weeks turned to be positive later? You have mentioned that the symptoms are not typical to ARS,but loose stools,digstive disorders and joints pain are said to be primary symptoms !!!I forgat to mention another detail,i lost 2.5kgs in month1 and 0.5 kgs in month 2.Can the ARS symptom continue till week 11 ?.Have you ever heard anybody got infected by fellatio in this forum ever ?

Re-read what I have already said to you about symptoms. It seems as if your anxiety is such that you are not taking the time to absorb what I've already said to you.

I don't think testing is even necessary for you in relation to this incident. Ordinarily we follow the CDC's recommendation of testing for a conclusive negative at 13 weeks. But that's when there has been a real risk, which your incident was not a such one.

The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who will seroconvert do so within 4-6 weeks after a REAL risk, which I hasten to repeat yours was not. So a negative at anytime after 6 weeks is very unlikely to change subsequently. Go ahead and re-test if you want to at 13 weeks strictly for your own peace of mind. Getting another negative is a slam dunk for you.

Fears often seem to trump HIV knowledge, at least for a while. But you have nothing to be concerned about this time.

Hi rapidrod.you would have read my post,expert Andy gave me useful information for me.Can you give me some more detail ?

1) As per this website,3 members got infected due to oral sex,then why do you say that oral is zero risk ?

2) Have you seen any individual in this forum claiming as +ve after 9 weeks -ve ?

3) Have you seen any one claiming as +ve due to oral sex alone in this forum ?

4) One of my friend told me that the test is reliable after stop of all symptoms,is it meaningful ?

1. They never got infected from oral sex.
2. Yes I have seen people test positive after 9 weeks and if you had read the forum it is rare and that is the reason for the 3 month conclusive test. Never have I seen anyone contract HIV from oral sex.
3. They can claim it but with science their claim would be invalid.
4. Your friend doesn't know what they are taking about.

Now go back reread Andy's replies and move on. You never had a risk of contract HIV.

Thanks rapidrod,as per point 3,there were claims that they got infected by oral sex, but science invalida their claim.To put my anxiety down, planning to test on 82nd day,hope that will be enough for my risk.

As the illness that SOME, not all, people experience soon after being infected has more to do with the process the body goes through while making antibodies than it does with the virus itself, then yes, most people will test positive on the antibody test once the symptoms of the illness have come and gone.

You've already been told that your results aren't going to change over this incident. Get your confirmatory three month test for your own peace of mind and move on with your life.

And by the way, here's what you need to know in order to protect your negative status:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks Ann, i have never involved in other form of sex in my life other than monogamous partner.So i am not an active person in sex. This was my first and will be the last risk ever. So i will not require condom anymore !

Hi Ann,in one of the post (Cunnilingus) you very clearly explained the modes of hiv control due to cunnilingus with respect to cervics.Can you have fellatio in same catogory ? Cervix is far away,but what about the concentration of hiv in foreskin and other close parts of pennis with respect to fellatio?
In both the cases the saliva inhibits transmission.

You're still caught up in details. Focusing on those is only going to stoke your anxiety without giving you the answer that only a test result can deliver.

Hopefully the negative test result we expect you to receive will put a finish to these unwarranted fears.

Meantime while waiting to test you need to make a genuine effort to focus your attention on other productive aspects of your life. And don't bother saying you're too anxious to do that. Because that response won't fly here.

Ultimately we expect you to test negative. Now, stop with this drama and get on with other things in your day is my very strong suggestion.

Yes, you're conclusively hiv negative.

Make sure condoms are being used for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Unless you do not have intercourse for at least the first three months of your future monogamous relationships, then you're still going to have to use condoms to protect yourself against hiv and other STIs. Monogamy alone does not guarantee protection against hiv. You must FIRST make sure you're both negative for hiv and all the other STIs as well, then you have to make sure that you BOTH are behaving as though you're monogamous.

Never EVER assume a person is hiv negative, always assume they're hiv positive and protect yourself accordingly, until it can be proven with a test at or outside the window period that they are truly hiv negative. Don't ever believe what a guy says about his hiv status - he might not know he's positive.

Hi Andy and Ann,i did Microparticle enzyme immuno assay test using AXSYMM machine for HIV after 15 weeks and got -ve.How reliable is this antibody test ? I am interested in reliability of this test rather than my risk assesment ( I dont want somebody else to barge in to discuss with respect to my risk).
