In Memory of A. Louise DeAngelis
« on: December 06, 2009, 05:43:26 pm »
A. Louise DeAngelis, my mother, passed away in October 1976 from suicide.  She suffered from schizophrenia since young adulthood.  After undergoing many treatments and hospitalizations over 20+ years, she ended her own life.  One of the most frustrating aspects of suicide is the questions about "why" which can never be answered.

I am posting this here because none of my family members wish to talk about my mother.  My father remarried 10 months after my Mom died, and since then has rarely spoken a word about her.  That, I have come to learn, affected me just about as much as my Mom's death.  Only in the past year have I learned that it is not normal, or more importantly, healthy, to simply forget or ignore the loved ones who have left us.

I've attached a few photos below.  The first, taken in 1962, is a photo of my Mom.  The second, taken in 1971, is a photo of me, my Mom, and my sister Louise (who was named after my Mom).

Regards,

Henry

P.S. The initial "A" in my Mom's name stands for Agnes, which she never really cared for.  She always went by her middle name, "Louise".

such a tragic turn of events , losing a very close loved one and then being ignored/ forgotten is so sad.  i am very sorry for your loss and the subsequent lingering frustrations.   I wish you only happiness in the future..

Your mom was beautiful! She looked alot like one of my Italian aunts! Wow, women were so stunning back then.. Maybe it was that they were so conservative and natural looking.  I am sorry for your loss! It feels good to talk about all the good things that she brought into this world such as yourself! Take care!
