juicing veggies
« on: June 30, 2007, 01:04:49 am »
hiya,
been juicing now for about 2 weeks and the difference is noticeable.
I admit I am a novice so I just get all sorts of veg and throw them in together and my stool is indeed thicker I have been able to stop completely with the anti diarrhea pills!!! I've noticed that my skin looks healthier and I have more energy.
I started on Kaletra 2 or 3 weeks ago and had a mighty headache for about 4 days and felt very lethargic/tired and my limbs were heavy but that's all gone now  ;D.
A friend of mine made me a "witches brew" it's made with three Surinam's herbs and it tastes awful but what it does is cleanses your body of toxins and also sets your chakras in place. I was very stressed out about the Kaletra and also my dad is dying of leukemia and has gone demented in a space of 2 months so the medication was the last drop and now i feel more in-line and calm in myself.
To get back to the juicing I'd recommend it to anyone it is great. I have a boyfriend who doesn't eat as much veg as I like to and this way I'm getting in all the veggies I love and quite a few I'd never eat on a plate I just add a couple of pears (great to take away any bad tasting stuff) and apples sometimes mango or peach.
I avoid spinache though as it can have not so good effects on you so I do that one cooked (coz I am a bit of a Popeye .... love my spinach). What doesn't taste good ... well i don't like it .... are leeks  ??? yuk the taste is so strong it dominates the taste of all the other veggies.
What i also do is add some ginger root that's good for allsorts ..... it"s apparently really good at stopping vomiting so if you're having troubles keeping down the meds then a cup of ginger tea is brill.
Here's a link to an article that tells a bit about the benefits of ginger:

Love to hear of any recipes anyone might have either tasty ones or ones that are super beneficial!!!

Hey Geraldine,

I also juice and find it quite invigorating.

I adore carrot juice. I must have it every day.

I never tried juicing leeks. It doesn't sound appealing to me, although I do like braised leeks.

Regarding the "witches brew," do you know what the herbs are? I was just curious because some can actually interfere with the meds.

I would probably run them by my doc to be sure, just to be on the safe side.

But, aside from that, juice away! It is wonderful for you and beats a lot of the garbage usually found in prepared foods these days.

HUGS,

Mark
