Guys:

I can't find a thread where a person is pricked by an intravenous needle found on the street/the ground/not in a healthcare setting.  I'm REALLY WORRIED that blood from the needle/syringe/IV drug user needle came into contact with me.  Please help.

You dont even know if you came in contact with a NEEDLE much less if it had blood in it and even less if it had HIV+ blood in it.

Please seek the help of a mental health professional.  You are WELL on the way to a timeout.

Curls,

You KICKED something on the street - I presume you are in the habit of wearing shoes? Guess what mate, shoes are worn to protect your feet. There is no way a needle would penetrate your shoes and besides, this type of needle stick transmission scenario is nothing more than urban legend. You didn't have a risk.

If you continue to come here with these fanciful environmental transmission ideas, I will have no choice but to give you a time out to encourage you to seek the professional help you need with your anxieties. We can't help you with that here.

Of course I wasn't worried about the parts of my feet protected by my shoes - I have been worrying about the unprotected, uncovered portion of my feet.  Still, if transmission from a needle on the street to or through a persons' skin does not exist, I'm at ease.

Thank you all and I'm sorry for being a bother.

Hey guys.  I'm going to have a heart attack.  I looked down at my foot this morning and noticed that I had been bleeding (the blood was dry).  Something had pricked me, as the opening was a small dot.  I'm so scared that a needle/syringe poked me, causing me to bleed, leading to HIV transmission.  I went to a very sketchy club on Friday night and am really worried that it happened there.  Please help me!  I'm losing it!

See a mental health professional. You were never at risk.

I don't understand how this did not put me at risk.  I was definitely pricked by something and I definitely bled.  The diameter of the wound is about 20 mm, which makes me think it was a needle/syringe.

Curls,

Do you even bother to read the responses you're getting? If not you should, especially the one I've quoted above from Ann.

It's high time you saw a mental health professional.
