From one short jaunt to Montreal (not so long ago)
Now, you're making magic, trans-Atlantic to and fro

As a year-end baby, I understand this time completely
With holidays and shoping craze, a birthday seems "defeat-ly"

If you weren't headed to Belgium, with its chocolates, Hermie and lace
I might be moved to feel sorry for you, but such is not the case!

In fact. I find I'm jealous, Dan, as Europe is such a delight
Suffice for now, I'll bid you farewell and the Happiest Birthday Night!!

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. This has been a difficult year for me, but also a very blessed and happy one.  Thank you all so much for being here for me, especially my Herman. Without this special man in my  life I would be a very sad & lonely person.   You all know how wonderful he is by reading his post, but I have come to know this special human being in a way I never could have imagined 6 months ago. Most of you don't know this but when Herman joined the forum in summer 05 I started sending him PM's right after he joined. I knew that he was special the moment I read his first post. I watched him from afar for many many months while he "dated" someone else here.  We talked on the phone several times & then I finally got to meet him in person in Montreal.  Going to AMG 06 changed me in ways I can never communicate to you all. I knew there was some that felt it best I stay home after that July melt down, but I pulled myself up from the gutter of depression, got on that plane & went.  Loosing my friend Terry earlier this year & then finding out about the death of CFL earlier this month was hard news to take. I know that CFL's death wasn't my fault, but deep inside I still feel somewhat responsible.  As many of the long timers know living with this "bug" for 20 + years has it's ups and downs, but I trudge on hoping for a "cocktail" that my liver can handle & new drugs to be approved quickly for those of us resistant to current meds. People say this disease is "manageable".  They probably don't live with it the way we do everyday. HIV affects us in more ways than just our physical health, it can destroy our spirits, play tricks on our minds, destroy our self esteem if we let it. I'm no expert on all of this and I don't have the way with words that so many of our dear members have.  I type what I feel.

This will be my first trip to Europe & I am counting the seconds until I can be in Hermans arms and just be with this loving, gentle spirit. He has many things planned for me to see & do. I can't wait to see where he lives, meet Patrick & Dirk & of course Lola. Watch out Hermie, I am going to spoil your little fur baby!

Again thank you all so much for being a part of my life. I can't imagine my life without ANY OF YOU!

Love,

Dan J.

THANK YOU

Dan,

Thank you.
You have indeed come a long way. I have seen your struggles. I have seen some of the real Dan.
This life and specially life with HIV in the long run keeps being an every day challenge.

You have learned about my persistance, my patience and my attitude.
We are in this together. You, me, all the other Forum members.

Our encounters may look like paddles in the dessert.
You and I just have to learn to enjoy the NOW. Isn't that the lesson HIV learned us all???

Just bring your sweet self to Belgium. Leave your troubles at home. Enjoy, watch, walk and hug me.
I do need that, more than antything else.
